I’m supposed to be writing an essay. I think I need to lock my phone away. Procrastination is possibly my most annoying trait!

Any other sufferers?! Anybody managed to overcome it?

Obviously I’ll be back regularly to check for responses

Yeah, I'll do it, but when I'm left with no other option but to do it...

.. whatever that "it" might be

"Procrastination is the thief of time

Surely it’s constipation that’s the thief of time in that context (constipation is also a fantastic method of procrastination)

It’s my absolute nemesis. If anyone has any advice to combat it then I’m all ears

As a writer I always turn my phone off so I can concentrate.

Ohh, is it an actual saying?! That one must have passed me by, I thought I was being clever

"As a writer I always turn my phone off so I can concentrate."

That’s very sensible, which means there’s very little chance of me doing it

In a town full of colours

I am the same, but I perform well under pressure and constantly leave things till the last minute. The endorphins are a tad addictive though...

I'm the same.

Unless it's unimportant, then I'm impulsive.

Sounds dull, but just make a (short) list of stuff to do. Breakdown your job into smaller steps, list em, then tick them off.

Hope it helps.

No problems in that area. All onwards and upwards.

Step up! Or step aside. In 2022.

Unless the deadline is pressing right up against me and making me sweat, I wont do a thing.

The trick is in shortening the deadline with you then?

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

I would give you a proper answer but I'm on YouTube flicking through decent Stereophonic's tracks to play.

I'm on "Indian summer" at the mo!

Figure it out what it is that is making you procrastinate in the first place. Something which scares you? Avoiding something? Pure laziness? Not that interested in the subject or task? Can't see the value or the point?

That's always a good place to start. Then you can at least tackle it.

It’s 23yrs since I last studied at this level. I’ve had kids since then so my brain doesn’t function as efficiently as it did! I’m scared that I’m not as good as the others on the course and that I’m out of my depth. I also have perfectionist tendencies and I’m lazy. Oh and I’m panicking about the deadline.

I’m very self-aware - my assignment is also about myself and my abilities which makes it harder!

Yeah, I've always suffered from it badly to the point where it affects study, work etc. Partly that's my ADHD but also a lot of procrastination can be linked to anxiety and can even be a trauma response.
