Monthly Fab fitness challenge?

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP
over a year ago

Anyone interested in setting a weekly or monthly fitness challenge?? It might help with motivation and intention and also be a bit of fun?

I'm thinking maybe km walked / ran / swam?

Or a weekly squat challenge?? We can mix the squats up to keep it interesting

Or we could do a 30 day plank challenge?

Anyone interested? Any other ideas /suggestions?

But more seriously, a streak challenge is better to coordinate. People choose a (non everyday, like dog walking) exercise and stick to it as long as they can to their chosen schedules. Be it sit ups every morning or swimming twice a week or doing parkerun every week etc

I’m currently doing a burpee challenge with a friend on here for the month of December. Nearly over thank god.

We’d discussed doing a plank challenge for January. So could be an idea

Ooooooo!!

.. So seems like a 30 day plank challenge is popular for January!!

I've found an interesting one.. It has a different plank every day! Beginners can reduce the time/reps, experienced people can up the time/reps for more of a challenge!

There is a picture of the daily plank and a description to help us - I'm happy to mail it every evening (maybe we could do a telegram group??)

Its called 'the Ultimate 30-Day Plank Challenge for Your Strongest Core Ever' if you want to Google it

Remember you can reduce the time, reduce the reps or increase the tine and increase the reps! Whatever suits you and your ability /life-style... So don't be put off

Nice idea OP and like the idea of a plank challenge. Could have various categories depending on people's experience. Eg level 1 30 secs ...level 2 1min, level 3 90 secs and level 4 2 mins...or something along those lines. The main thing is to commit every day for 30 days ...

Awesome!!

I'm all organised

* January = planking challenges!

* February = squats challenge

Someone had a great idea to take a 'before' picture and then at the end of the month take an 'after' picture. You can post these on the forum, or just use them for your personal progress journal... But i would recommend you do it... I want you to feel a sense of achievement at the end of it!

I'll do a daily thread describing the activity.. And will send a photo of the pose via PM to everyone who is participating.. I'll aim to send that the night before.. I'm not know as midnight for no reason, so it might be late lol

Then it'll be up to you how many seconds and reps you do.. You can post that in the daily thread and we can congratulate, encourage and cry in pain together

But hopefully we'll have some fun along the way

I guess i need to make a list of everyone who is going to participate, so please send me a message on the back of this thread (post here if you can't get through my filters) and I'll make a list!

Wonderful! Some super ideas and committed people on here. Remember, fitness is cultural behaviour and whatever goals you set yourself, keep doing it - don’t give in, you will feel great. Fitness should become routine like having breakfast or going to bed for 7/8 hours sleep. My routine…5 day week is..HIIT M, W, F, swim

Tue (45 min) and run Thu (3.4miles). Please, please, please, stick at it, you will feel physically and mentally better for it. If you start your regime in Jan, keep it going and measure your success as you see fit…oh, may be worth getting a Garmin Vivoactive 3 (or similar) so you can track your success. Go guys and girls!!!! .
