The heebie-jeebies

What gives you the heebie-jeebies? Currently sat on the beach, where a RED flag is flying prominently. Information boards at every entrance to the beach explain the strong currents and dangerous nature of the water. There's one lifeguard and despite his constant efforts, blowing his whistle and on one occasion, throwing a lifeline to someone, people continue to go into the water and put themselves and therefore the lifeguard in danger. I just watched people argue with him when he asked them to come in, taking his eyes away from watching the other parts of the beach. It's like people have a death wish or something.

Anyway, I'm heebie-jeebie-ing at the eejits who think they'll beat the Atlantic Ocean.

Seeing standing water on fast moving roads now. I recently had my pants pulled down by a puddle on a motorway. It’s grabbed my car, spun me round a couple of times before spitting me into a tree lined verge. Narrowly escaping injury, but writing my car off.

Now, I’m nervous every time i see standing water/puddles when I’m driving.

Can empathise with all the examples above! Had some near misses with standing water on motorways (mainly the M61) and as a lifelong equestrian, have had my children (and me) wearing helmets all the time, including on the ground. You never know if an animal might kick out

Had a horse rear on me as a kid. I have never held on to anything so tightly in my life. And animals are unpredictable.

I'll add people who treat animals as if they totally understand their every thought. They are unpredictable and should be treated with respect.
