"I was wondering about something that often occurs to me in serious social situations. When I'm at a funeral, wedding etc, I will see something, that wouldn't normally amuse me, and it absolutely cracks me up. I may just smirk to myself but if I happen to make eye contact with someone I may fall about in uncontrollable hysterics. It's like a form of turrets and as hard to control as a sneeze. Is it just me? R XX" It's quite a common phenomenon. It is often a nervous reaction to having to be serious.

"I was on a training course one afternoon and we were all sat round on chairs with arms, someone opposite me had a white board market on his arm and it fell off - I sniggered, he looked at me and sniggered too and before long we were both in fits of laughter and couldnt stop - everytime we looked at each other we started again - the tutor was not impressed and sent us both out the classroom where we stood in the corridor and howled with laughter - she then told us to go back in the room and we both started again ............. my sides were really hurting and tears were pouring down my face - I dont think we pulled ourselves together for the whole afternoon " * marker *
