Monkeys in Captivity

Not sure if this is true but I read that zookeepers have to keep a limit to their monkeys in captivity... Too many and a rival troop breaks away and open hostility and warfare breaks out with troop against troop, gang against gang..

Who thinks this is true ?

Somewhere In The Ether…

Overpopulation and the wholly negative effects have certainly been scientifically observed and validated in rat studies.

There is a marked increase in aggressive behaviour and in extreme cases, cannibalism(!!!)

I looked after vervet monkeys and baboons in South Africa a couple of years ago. They are very clever, very cute, naughty, vicious little bastards!

What’s your point OP? Most animals form groups and fight each other, whether in the wild or captivity, it’s perfectly natural.

Yep it's nature.

A friendship group gets too big and splinter groups seperate off, happens across lots of species
