Somewhere In The Ether…

Do you rinse your dishes etc prior to giving them a cycle?

When I tell people that I do this, they invariably look at me as though I am somehow unhinged.

My dishes are practically spotless before they go in as well. I can't help it

Depends on what is on the plate. For instance may of had cereal in a bowl found leaving it particles may stick. Conclusion in your camp

Most dishwashers have sensors that check the initial rinse and adjust the wash cycle accordingly. If you rinse you might end up with a wash cycle that doesn’t properly clean.

Had this flat since June and never used the dishwasher! Can wash up by hand in about 3 minutes, don't need 100 minute cycle rattling and banging away

My cat usually licks them pretty clean before they go in the dishwasher… unless I’ve had a curry, in which case I rinse it under the tap first because it stinks (the plate, not the cat).

Anything can can be scaped off into the bin comes off and then rack'em and stack'em.

Scrape bits into the bin, the rest goes in the dishwasher.

Although... DO NOT PUT ANY TINY SPEC OF WEETABIX IN THE DISHWASHER. Weetabix coated stuff gets washed in the sink.

I must admit that I usually only run my dishwasher when I’ve had a particularly greasy meal (fry ups etc)

The rest of the time, my dishwasher sits as an expedient storage unit.

Is it weird that I'd rather have to wash the ones the dishwasher couldn't handle after than preemptively wash them first when they might not have needed it?Might be my weird logic.

We stayed in a gîte once and put the dishwasher on at around 10am as we left for a day out. When we arrived back at 6pm it was still going .

We don't have a dishwasher but if I had to rinse stuff before putting it in I'd probably just wash it up anyway

Yes, I do. The guy who repaired it said it's essential or I would be paying him again. So it's a habit now.

I much prefer washing up myself,

I find it relaxing,

From a young age I always did the washing up at my mums,

I've got four teens. On some days it's on twice. Yeah my parents made me wash up and I still hate it so not forcing them to!

I tend to let the tough stuff soak in the sink for a bit first and rinse off the rest
