Wheel clamping banned..

..on private land. About time too, but how does the new legislation apply to shops, which are not public parking facilities?

I don't mean the big superstores like Sainsburys etc who have huge car parks, but the little Morrison or Iceland stores dotted about that have 20-ish places at the rear of the store? There is also little known bylaws that have to be considered that permit landowners the right to manage parking on their land in any way they choose?

I can see a lot more tickets being issued and the new law also includes an appeal process controlled and funded by the British Parking Association, but they can only get involved if the landowner is a member of the BPA.

This was on daybreak Friday morning and a Birmingham clamper said he make even more money because of less overheads. Wonder how much DVLA will make giving out details.

It just seems that they eliminate one scam or sharp practice and another quickly raises its head to replace it !!

That very true, see my MP getting a hammering again. He been campaigning for years to stop clamping
