What good male fragrances can you lot reccomend.

He likes

Sauvage (or sausage as I call it)

I always recommend Dior's original Sauvage fragrance, "Eau Sauvage". It's completely different to the modern one (which I think is like a spicy oriental vibe, yeah?) being a much more overtly masculine vetiver-led scent, so it might not be his cup of tea, but it's soooooo good. Crisp, fresh, sophisticated. Gorgeous stuff. Apparently it was Steve McQueen's favourite.

Hugo Boss.

I'm a massive fan of "bottled night " by them. Musky smell to it.

Sauvage is lovely. I also like YSL 'Y' very sexy and it was on offer in Boots when I got it.

If you do want to stick either that more exotic, heady vibe, I'm also a big fan of Bottega Veneta Pour Homme. It's fantastic stuff, really intoxicating. I use the "Extreme" variant, I find the patchouli and leather are more prominent.

For me, I’m not a fan of the high street brand fragrances, I like to have something a bit different from others, there is a great perfumery on Jermyn Street in London, that will do personalised bespoke scents which are just perfect. They also have a few off the shelf offerings which are a great gateway to get you started.

Burberry hero or mont blanc explorer.

This year and I've found John Lewis to have really good deals this year. They seem to he at least 20 quid cheaper than other stores.

I always think this of the avon parfumes, they don't last long but for what you pay you can't go wrong.

"You can’t go wrong with good old Brut 33"

I use the brut showergel (I prefer masculine smells to the ones aimed at women) , i'm addicted to it but its really hard to find and to be fair it doesn't smell anything like brut oddly Luckily it smells better, I always feel extra clean and fresh when I use it.

Cheers for all the suggestions peeps, i've ordered some dupes that someone on here reccomended but i'm making a list of the rest to investigate after Christmas (when money is less tight) and I can go and have a sniff of them all. You sound like a lovely smelling bunch.

"Penhaligons- blasted heath "

Penhaligon's are amazing. Sartorial is my go-to fougere these days, and Halfeti is the most evocative thing I've ever sniffed.

Haven't had the opportunity to smell Blasted Heath yet, interesting to see it pop up here. I'll have to see if I can get a sample.

Theyre great you dont smell like every other tom dick and harry wearing stuff from boots. I need to nip down and have a smell of some others once my sense of smell returns

Bleu Chanel never seems to never fail to get noticed, and comments have been passed to me on the fragrance. Last one was on Saturday afternoon in boots by a lady looking for fragrances as gifts. When I told her the price of it she wasn't quite so keen.

Good to have a range for different situations, times of day and moods. Also its true that they can smell different from person to person or in different weather temperatures.

Some of the ones I think are quite good top of my list and sort of reasonably priced are:

Abercrombie and Fitch First Instinct*

Tom Ford *

Prada Amber*

Aqua di Parma* and the

original Santos de Cartier*.

These are also good but some rather pricey

Bottega Venetta

Henry Jacques

Creed.

Penhaligons and the original Eu Savage and one or two from next that others mentioned above are nice too and worth 'smelling'

It was all easier when you could get lots of samples to try out. These days only a few do samples and quite hard yo get them too

Got that much aftershave it's untrue. Never had one that I really happy with. Always get a couple of bottles at Christmas...... because apparently I stink. So got about 10 bottles which I'm currently plowing through. Using David Beckham classic at the moment as my everyday one.....best smelling lorry driver at my depot
