Am I alone here.

I am 50 yrs old, married for half of my life, and yet I still regularly think about my first GF, whi I met after I left school.

We met up when we were 30, and although both wanted something to happen, we stopped it before it did .

But, most days, I find my mind wandering to what would have been, what could be etc....

Am i the only one, or is this common ?

I can’t say I do, although I recently saw her at a school reunion and we both probably thought to ourselves “dodged a bullet there”

I do occasionally think of a girl, Sara, she used to visit the village with her friend, Rosie, to see Rosie's grandmother.. Scottish lasses. The last time i saw her she wanted a kiss because she was going back home, i didn't partly because i was shy and she ripped my jeans earlier that day… Childish eh! Never seen her since, or her friend. A wee beautiful lass she was.

I do remember swapping earnings with her actually, i used to wear a red ruby stud earring.. how cool was i!, i swapped it with her pink stud, i do believe i still have it, somewhere…

I often think about "what could have been" in a number of areas of my life, not just love. It's not because I'm pining for it though (not in most cases). It's just a curiosity.

I do sometimes look back and wonder with a sense of relief that my life has taken the path it has. Distance lends enchantment and without the day to day drudgery of life anything looks ideal.

It’s easy to think of what could of been and picturing it favourably as you only shared good times, some might say it wasn’t meant to be and others you’ll never know unless you try. Life is short and only you know the answers

I fondly remember my first love/girlfriend. She lived in Nottinghamshire, while I was in Stoke. Holiday romance that carried on for 3 years. We eventually drifted apart due to the distance, and the fact that we were just 16. I still, occasionally hear from her to catch up.
