I just wondered if anyone has any info / experience of Lenovo Laptops..good or bad?

I have seen one that has decent specs for a reasonable price, but I know nothing about the make.

Thanks

They're ok, IMO. Not the best quality available but very good value.

In Your Bush

I have had one before. They do tend to load it with a lot of their own maintenance shit but the pc was fine

They are one of the best on the market atm and built to last. Wouldn't get anything else for now. So buy and enjoy

Thanks, I'm wanting to change from a PC to a laptop to save space etc and as my PC is lacking in RAM / storage now anyway it seems a sensible move, but there are SO many to choose from !

Try independant companies rather than the main retailers as they can build them to your specific needs and the software you need etc or saying that great deals on qvc or ideal world x

Lenovo bought the Thinkpad brand from IBM a few years back now.

They target the corporate market rather than consumers... but because of that they tend to be built like battleships as employees tend to take less care of something that's owned by their employer than their own stuff. The ones where I work have had to withstand all sorts of treatment yet continue to work.

What's your budget and what's most important for you, e.g. a big and bright screen, lots of storage space, nice keyboard, etc....

Storage and ability to run more than one program at the same time without compromising on speed are priorities.. along with reasonable graphics and sound..I'm not in business or a gamer though so not needing anything exceptional. The Lenovo has 750gb hard drive and 8gb RAM which is a hell of a lot higher than I have now.

Hmm only prob with getting a new Laptop will be making sure I have cleared EVERYTHING off my PC and my Netbook before passing them on to anyone...but that's a whole different issue

Take the hard drive out and pass them on without it.

I think that will probably be necessary unless I can find the restore discs and do a complete factory restore. Formatting is too easy for files to be found.

Just make sure to check it over for a decepticon stamp on it you don't want it turning into laser beak half way through a cam session lol

Through my work I have some tools that will make the data difficult to recover unless you've got a very large budget to fund it. Feel free to drop me a line nearer the time if you'd like the details.

There are some things I'm afraid even the greatest spec machine can't do on it's own !!

I wish it was on something impressive like saving childrens' lives in 3rd world countries but sadly it's just a geeky report on some new technology. Very boring stuff... which explains why I'm on here instead of writing it.

Lenovo's are great machines, as has been said before, they're mostly bought by corporations and last forever, they just don't look as funky as the latest Alienware machines but it's horses for courses !

Plenty of software out there that will do industrial strength disk wiping too.

"Good value plus good specs?

The build quality on newer Toshiba's is atrocious ! Same with Dell's, the hinges last about 5 minutes.

My Toshiba satellite doesn't have that problem. Built like a tank! I agree with you on the dell! Pity. They usually have great specs.
