Vivaldi died nearly 300 years ago and his music is still widely known with many pieces easily recognised by non classical music lovers.

I wonder how many of today's popular pieces will last that well?

Sits perfectly with life in a northern town.

It sounds daft to most people, but if you actually listen to Em's words there is just nobody in the modern world who can use the English language like him.

Listen to his verses in Renegade, for example... 5 rhyming syllables per line and makes perfect sense and tells a story. He's just an absolute genius with language.

Love this, especially in a sunny day"

Pisses me off, when radio Djs cut off the ending.

Am I the only one who thinks that section sits nicely in Flash Gordon. The Hawkmen scene?

"Life in a Northern Town by Dream Academy.

I will also suggest Dignity by Deacon Blue and just to rock out to - Rebel Yell by Billy Idol.

Life in a northern town. How many times has that been sampled?

Hey-I'm-on-my-own was pretty close to it, as sung by Shakespears Sister on the track, Run Silent Run Deep.

I've never heard that track by shakespears sister

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io3hUmjOvQ8

1:55. Not a sample exactly but pretty close.

First album, Scared Heart.

I see what you mean! Good track none the less. Thanks for sharing, now getting hooked to their voices again like I was at 10 years old!"

Thanks, took me years to work that one out. Gotta love YT!

Heard Blackstreet "no diggity" the other day, still sounds excellent, but timeless and you have to go full Pink Floyd, Wish you Were Here or Breathe, actually just say Pink Floyd

"Vivaldi died nearly 300 years ago and his music is still widely known with many pieces easily recognised by non classical music lovers.

I wonder how many of today's popular pieces will last that well?

Mr

I read an article on this recently, by some Muso PhD in the states. He concluded Eninem would be the next Mozart based on longevity and future influence.

It sounds daft to most people, but if you actually listen to Em's words there is just nobody in the modern world who can use the English language like him.

Listen to his verses in Renegade, for example... 5 rhyming syllables per line and makes perfect sense and tells a story. He's just an absolute genius with language.

Eminem - Cold Wind Blows "

If Eminem is that influential, then it's not solely because he's good at what he does.

There loads of MC's that are of the same standard. He's not even close to being the best, but he does stand among them.
