Do people still really judge someone by what car they drive??

Apparently I probably come across to most people as either loaded or a posh t##t basically because of what car I'm driving round in.....

People can get things so wrong...it's not nice

I bought my car as I liked the way it looks. A bit vacuous that, but to me cars are just a box so I’ll buy the one I like the look of. It’s also a hybrid so it’s good on MPG and as a Toyota (CHR) it’s very safe.

I don’t think anyone will be impressed with what I drive but I’m happy when I’m behind the wheel and when I get out I still like it’s looks.

If I'm being really honest I could definitely "afford" to have a nicer car than I currently drive. But I like this one, it gets me where I need to go and it's not got enough problems (or any, really) for me to justify getting a new one apart from some minor aesthetic stuff. Besides, I'm saving up for a house so every little helps

I think I’m actually guilty of judging people by their cars.

If I see a Range Rover I expect it’s being driven by an overpaid arse who can’t drive for shit and has zero idea about the width of the vehicle they drive.

If I see a Honda jazz I know I need to overtake ASAP before I get stuck doing 16 mph along every country lane around.

If I see a silver Audi A4 driver I know they are too drawer quality people with great taste in cars and can drive to perfection on every journey

My wife used to commute to her school in a sports car. She said the kids loved it! At the time our logic had been that a two seater was more economical

Didn't work out so well in the snow.

I don't judge people in terms of who or what they are but I do make judgements about how I expect they'll drive based on what they're driving.

I'm afraid our expectations of Audi drivers differ

My care is 15 years old, starts every time and only takes a weeks wages to get through each MOT. So as you can imagine 5 1/2 years ownership and I'm not inclined nor able to swap it. Those pesky kids on the tv ads shouting "Go electric I dare you". Haven't seen the pricing or logistics of ownership on a modest wage. Nor have they heard of credit ratings.

Yes people still make a character judgement based on someone’s car. The same way they may make a judgment about the clothes they wear or the job they have.

When you don’t know someone you can only go by what’s visible. Cars are visible and a fair indicator of income.

Think everyone makes assumptions, it's what us humans are good at. I drive a clapped out banger that's an absolute shit tip. Currently a bit muddy after rugby training. So looking at my car you'd think I was a slob and that I don't care about appearance.

But I do just don't care about cars, as long as it gets me from A to B I'm good.

"Lol probably.. i drive a modified blacked out corsa VXR, ppl think im a boy racer but im far from it. Ppl really need to meet me in person to really know what kind of a person i am. Looks can be very deceiving "

I have a lowered sensible family estate, with a large sub box in the boot. I'm probably seen as a fellow boy racer, but the fact is I'm nearing bloody 40 and this thing wouldn't win a race against anything!

"People that try to be flash usually have not alot let behind the scenes

The richest man I know drives a Honda civic "

Richest guy I know has a few mil sitting in the bank. He drives around in an early 00s Micra and a rough looking older Ford Ranger.

People with money don't seem to splash out, that's how they have it. People I know with proper nice cars, clothes etc have the most debt.

Our neighbours certainly do.

Cal drives a van, which apparently brings down the tone of the neighbourhood

We drive vehicles that are always filthy, people probably think we are a pair of scruffy gits. It's just where we live we can't keep them clean.

"Do people still really judge someone by what car they drive??

Apparently I probably come across to most people as either loaded or a posh t##t basically because of what car I'm driving round in.....

People can get things so wrong...it's not nice

Regardless of what car it is, who gives a crap what other people think... I didn't buy mine either to please or displease others, I bought it because it makes me smile every time I drive it

Just enjoy your motor, that would be my advice"

We've got an older, dirty, scratched car. Driving on the back roads to get to the lakes and fells you're bound to have to drive into a hedge because the tourists in their 71 plate cars won't budge in anymore.

And come to think of it …. Just because anyone owns/drives a posh car doesn’t necessarily mean they own it!

I had a lady drive a long way to meet me for the first time. When she arrived, she was driving a beautiful new gleaming red Mercedes convertible. She turned out to be a nutter.

Fancy cars mean nothing.

I remember all the lads at work being amazed when I got a new company car. But it’s just a car, it’s a nice car don’t get me wrong but I’d be happy driving anything around.

I judge, and I expect to be judged. Being judged doesn't have to mean it's always going to be negatively, and it doesn't mean it will be the way you might think either. But of course judgement is there to some degree. I also judge if it's clean on the inside and outside, and if you have any form of comedy rear window stickers.
