MLS - positive LFT Result

Jump to newest

Hi folks.

Thought I should make everyone aware that I’ve just had a positive LFT. Going to get a PCR test in a few minutes.

I was negative Friday morning - so guessing I got it from someone at the MLS. No accusations though - we all knew the risks.

Suggest everyone do an LFT asap - and for the next 2-3 days.

I’ll post my PCR result on here - but as I have a sore throat etc I’m assuming it’ll be positive.

My lft test came back negative this afternoon, I find it confusing to read and will always do so. Going to test for the next week or so, just to make sure.

I hope anyone else with symptoms is looking after themselves.

Bloody awful tbh. Fortunately though as I’m double jabbed I’m not having breathing difficulties etc - I think that was always my biggest worry.

I was due to get my booster next week but I’ll have to postpone it now.

I’d strongly advise everyone to get it as soon as you can. Even though I’m not ‘seriously’ ill (mostly flu like symptoms and severe aching/headache) I still wouldn’t wish it on anyone and would like to have avoided it if possible.

This is very true, we have attended a variety of events up and down the country over the last 4 months. The time we actually caught covid was at our own arts centre.

Yes it possible you could catch it at MLS, but equally you could catch it in your hometown at the pub etc. In fact it’s more likely simply due the frequency of visits.

This is true and alot of the people I know that have caught it got it from someone at work. Unfortunately it's a risk we all take if we have any close interaction with anybody.

Yes it possible you could catch it at MLS, but equally you could catch it in your hometown at the pub etc. In fact it’s more likely simply due the frequency of visits.

This is true and alot of the people I know that have caught it got it from someone at work. Unfortunately it's a risk we all take if we have any close interaction with anybody."

I agree, I had covid last year and only places I went was work and supermarket occasionally.

Both mine ans Jack's lfts were negative again yest, but I do mine regularly for work, plus a pcr test too.

Feel better soon peach xx

Hope everyone doesn't feel any ill's for too long.

I just had a thought so thought I'd post. We're advised to open windows, wash hands etc so would this have any effect if you get a positive result?

Mulling it over - refreshing air or disinfecting major surfaces when possible may reduce or moderate any build up of the virus in the home?

Just thoughts as said - get well soon.

"Hi folks.

"

I'm guessing if you felt Ill beforehand you probably already had it, just takes a while to show up

I’m sorry to read you’re ill Peachy. Great to give everyone the heads up though.

I was at a party too, so waiting to see if I’m ok. Sounds like every gathering will have people there who aren’t showing symptoms at that point but were infectious.

Looks both my kids have covid now. One in London the other in didcot.

Don't assume it was MLS, but definitely the right thing to do to let people know. That will be a fun call for the spotty teenager doing the track and trace follow up calls if your PCR is positive...

My rugrat was off school as tested positive. It took both me and her mum a full week doing LFT daily before either of us tested positive. It could have been from MLS, but also as likely you had it before just not with enough viral load of trip the LFT test result thing yet. Also, you're not contagious until you are testing positive, so doesn't;t mean y ou have passed it on either - altho again - you might have... Minefield! Just le people know w and then they can make their own decisions on testing or doing anything about it. Well done on not just keeping schtum.

Headache on its own is not really a symptom. You can have negative lft and test pcr positive day or two later. Life is worth living and I wouldn't blame OP for trying to do that. Chill. For all I know could have got it at Christmas Market the same weekend, on a train, from a taxi driver.. anyone asymptomatic. No witch hunt please..

Everybody going knew the risks and no fingers should be pointed.

I have 6 friends that have tested positive in the last 2 weeks (not been in contact with any of them since the summer)

4 of them are almost sure they got it at work, So my point is this thing is rife at the moment and if any of us leave the house we are running a risk.

Its cold flu and a new addition covid season..these viruses are endemic Its how we live that lets viruses exploit our weaknesses.. the operative word being live. social interaction is good for our health both physical and mental.

I'm pretty sure a few months ago if someone had gone down with flu who'd attended a party or social function no one would have batted an eyelid.

Exactly this. If anyone is so worried about this virus then it's up to them to stay away from social places. The rest of us can then get on and enjoy life. No one should be made to feel guilty in any way, shape or form.

How did you get a PCR if you didn't have symptoms if you don't mind me asking? Didn't think you could book a PCR test if you don't have the 3 main symptoms.

You can if you’ve been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. I got pinged today too.

I went for my first ever one on Monday. I didn't have any symptoms apart from a cough but I have a pre-existing condition that explains the cough and needed to rule out any chance of covid. I didn't lie at all. On the application I said I had no symptoms and was still able to have it done.

No there are 'other' boxes that you can tick.. I went for one today, just to be sure, even though I have no symptoms

"Loads are lateral flow negative but PCR positive currently.

That was the case for me as well, but I had symptoms so PCR needed to be done. Funnily enough Lorenzo is negative and I hope it will stay that way as my self isolation should end on 23rd. Not sure I want to risk spending time with his parents though as we originally planned

K"

Hope you're feeling better soon! All my tests are still negative despite being with you both all night. One was my weekly LAMP test in work that doesn't require confirmatory PCR. I'll be doing another on Wednesday and I'll keep up the LFTs. Mad how one of you is positive and the other negative. Hopefully that means some vaccines are working anyway. I only had my booster a few weeks ago so maybe that's how I've escaped.

You can also book one if you have been pinged or been in contact with someone who has tested positive or need then for travel or work.

My Mum ended up in hospital on a ventilator last Christmas but my stepdad never caught it. Same with a friend who died from Covid in September - her husband never caught it. Very strange illness/condition

I've only ever had to do one and could only get it if I said I had the 3 main symptoms. That was quite a few months ago though.

"Hi folks.

"

I had a sore throat, cough and banging headache on Sunday….. PCR test was Negative - hello common cold!

It's constantly changing as is the main symptoms. People who are vaccinated for example can often have very different symptoms and each variant seems to differ slightly in relation to what symptoms are most prevalent as well. Anybody that was at the Manchester social would be eligible for a PCR test because somebody venue has tested positive.

Get well soon.

It good to give the heads up, as we all want to see the back of this plague and no one should be offended by being informed about it.

You do not have to have any symptoms to have a test, you may have been in the company of someone who is positive for Covid, or work in a hospital with or near Covid patients, but you certainly do not have to have even one symptom to be able to get a test, and if that’s what they are now saying then god help us all!

There's a tick box for a positive case in a venue attended as well as the close contact option

Lft’s are useless, they are so far behind in picking the virus up, so many people get a negative result when they are positive, myself included, I got 4 days of negatives but I was sure I had covid no matter what the test said so I went for a pcr and it was positive. I would thinks it’s a little bit late now for all of those that were in contact with the people at this event who tested positive, it will already be passed on by the thousands all around the country, stable door and all that lol

I think you are being rather dramatic suggesting 5 people testing positive is going to be responsible for thousands around the country nothing like Sensationalism!

I had contact with everyone at the event, LFT were negative but took a PCR as a precaution and that also was negative.

I do suggest anyone who attended to get a PCR though but we know Omnicron is spreading faster than wildfire at the moment.

I haven't been in contact with anyone other than my other half since Sunday morning and my symptoms started on Monday, no spreading here.

The knock on effect is quite large from 5 people, all travelling, all back to work, all seeing family and friends for days after, who then see numerous people, I’m not being funny about it I’m sure I would have passed it on myself when I had it without knowing, just saying it’s a bit late now a week on to be concerned of testing no need to get on high horses

Well let's step back, take a breath and accept a compromise.

Accept that football matches are high risk as are a gigs and put the masks on, wash our hands and keep up to date on the vaccines and hopefully this Xmas and NYE won't be cancelled like last year, not ideal, but common sense should be the order of the day.
