Get enough Battenburg and you'd be a hit with cake loving chess players.

Especially if you have enough jelly babies and a file to make all the pieces.

Standard vanilla sponge with just a dusting of icing sugar

Although if you want them to pop melt some white chocolate and mix some jam through it as it dries
