Join me in commemorating one of the most sensual fantasy authors that ever lived. I just read that she passed away. Safe journey lady.

As a teen / twenty something kid I was an avid reader, a huge fan especially of the witches saga. I longed to be the Vampire Lestat of course. Plus her pornography was pretty good too.

RIP

.

I wasn't sure there would be a thread like this but I'm glad you started it OP.

I absolutely loved reading Anne Rice when I was younger - such evocative, sensual horror and moving too. I wanted to be a Mayfair witch so badly, I think that she definitely helped shape my sexual predilections (some of them at least).

RIP

I enjoyed the Mayfair witches and lashers tumultuous existence

Yes! I always wanted to be the Irish carpenter guy in those stories. Surrounded by supernatural women fixing staircases and drinking too much.

Very much so. I can see the streaming companies commissioning some of her works as TV shows too.

Such sad news, a really talented author. I loved her books so much when I was in my late teens/early 20's, may have to dig one out and reread. Xx RIP.

La la land

Oh I've only just seen this on here. I loved reading her books in my younger years, remember picking up a copy of queen of the dammed in an Oxfam shop which is how it all started for me. Even read her sleeping beauty trilogy. This has properly made me a tad sad this afternoon.

It is sad isn't it? She had a wonderful life and had been ill for quite a while from what I can see. The sleeping beauty trilogy is the pornography right? Quite lush as I remember and very kinky.

Nobody ever made me want to visit New Orleans more than her. She made me see, taste and smell the place. She made it romantic and dangerous. Still never been, mind.

It is pornography and extremely kinky. Was quite an eye opener to my younger self. But you're right it appears she lived a wonderful life and from what she wrote I presume a very interesting life.

Very sad news. The detail in her books made me want to visit New Orleans. She made it sound a magical place.

Just a wonderful painter with words

One of my favourites, she created a wonderfully layered and textured world.
