"Until earlier today I had not hear of this phrase of two words. I have a father who is manipulative, controlling, etc. It is clear that he has some kind of mental health issue. However, he will not, never ever discuss anything with anyone. If he "doesn't get his way", then he will administer the silent treatment, ignore, fail to answer the phone and instruct his victim (me?) to "go away" "leave me alone" to the point where he will take an overdose. Anyone in a similar situation?" Can you get help or care xx

Anyone in a similar situation?" I have been. A 21 year marriage. Separated 10 years divorced for almost 2. Still has an effect on me, my kids. Almost "lost" my youngest daughter to his manipulating and coercive ways. Actually my stepmum is the same but I stand up to her now because she's a functionibg alcoholic worse now than ever.

"I grew up in that situation. These days its understood so there is a much better chance of getting help. The trouble is people like that don't believe they are the problem, everyone else is, so you may have to make tough descision. The thing is not feel bad if you do have to make a tough decision, it can't possibly be your fault. " A tough decision like what?

"I’ve been in several relationships like that - I’ve been controlled on what I wear, where I go, how fast I answer the phone or texts, etc I’m forever single now by choice, I can’t be doing with manipulative men It’s like they’re sweet and caring but if you’re not compliant with them then you get the controlling treatment "
