Is the boss a knob?

None sexual,

What ever I suggest or say to my boss he always says the exact opposite, literally what ever I say or suggest I get completely shut down. I've got to the point now where there's no point in saying anything as I can't be arsed with the normal reply.

Is it me, what can I do?

Try explain the issue you have with him, try resolve it like adults. It's worth sorting out cause in the long run it will only get worse. If he can't see your point of view whatsoever and you are getting nowhere with him. Take a dump in his desk drawer every now and then. Change it up each time, different drawer, different times of the day. It won't solve anything but it's funny .

Tried that he gets moody and aggressive.

Dump in the desk sounds like a great idea though haha

I had a boss like that once back in the days before I was the boss. Laxative in his coffee didn't get me my suggestions noticed, but it was quite rewarding seeing him run in more ways than one.

if you want your boss to give you the right answer, try asking him the question backwards, for example tell him you have to go right and he will say no go left, which is what you want!

There are ways to deal with this. Usually by asking the right questions. Do you have an example?

Lol I’ve always found if you let things linger it ends up worse. I’ve also always found that if you argue it ends up worse.

I personally always say my piece in as rational a manner as possible. What comes of that then is the decision the other person makes, I keep calm but also don’t allow anyone to take advantage

Does he do it to other people or just you? Do you like your job? If you can just avoid speaking to him I'd suggest that.

One of our managers has had complaints about him from 8 people, possibly more. They all left the company because of him. HR did nothing, he is still employed. He is an incompetent bully. HR asked me to make a complaint against him but I declined. Not worth the hassle.

I had this with my last boss. She hated me so much but she was the only one so couldn't get anyone on "her side".

There's a saying that you do t leave a job you leave bad management.

I was lucky and I got relocated and a new boss but it did really wear on me to a point I'd written my resignation.

Keep looking elsewhere so you don't feel trapped, like you're actively doing something about the problem, that makes me feel less bad about stuff. I don't like it when people moan but do nothing to change what they're moaning about x best of luck op, shit happens for a reason x

I have the exact same problem.

Learnt a life lesson from Tiktok of all places.

"Only talk to those who listen!!

For example you talk to the boss. The moment he stops listening, takes over, whatever. You stop talking.

The reason for doing this is you learn so much more about the other person.

I started doing this with my own boss 12months ago.

For one. My stress levels reduced dramatically and I noticed that he was only interested in jobs being done his way. Has no interest in anything else, suggestions whatever.

I am bidding my time as he will hopefully retire soon...

I look forward to the revolution.

It's not about you, it's about his power trip. A lot of bosses are like this and I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Don't stoop to his level or play silly games just let it go over your head. Life's too short to be miserable at work, if your unhappy change it.

Bosses took time off at the two most busiest days of the year 23/24 December back in 2019.

On the day of my next shift, I popped in to drop off my uniform and a letter saying this is my notice.

Cheerio!

God it felt good!

God I had a boss like this. An absolute clunge! Why or how he lasted as long as he did the job I'll never understand. Even his boss didn't particularly like him, he just a reputation (well earned) for being obstinate and difficult.

It's one of those work places where management close ranks and protect one another, even the wrong'uns

I have NO IDEA how anyone managed to give you an answer when they have ZERO knowledge about the situation.

And as you are thanking them for advice on something they know nothing about...

Then my answer at t his point is.... it's YOU.

My boss does the same thing, shuts down anything I suggest. Then 2 weeks later he suggests it to the MD to take credit for it. I’ve started bypassing him & going straight the MD then tell my boss, so he looks a nob when he suggests it 2 weeks after I did.
