Hey guys, there are a few rumours going around the town I live in about me and my hubby which are complete lies.

Nothing about being on here which we don't care about anyway but one's which could harm my business.

Hubby has suggested ignoring as it could fuel their fire. people that know us know it's bullshit but I really want to rip this muppets face off.

What would you guys do?

Would you class it as defamation.

Ripping his face off is probably not the best solution. Depends what it was to be honest. Although I probably only know my neighbours. I don’t tend to get involved other than that.

Depends on what the lies are about.

Do you have enough friends that can spread the truth around and kill the lies? X

Hold your head up high and show you’ve done nothing wrong, it will soon blow over and be old news

"Ripping his face off is probably not the best solution. "

Particularly if the aforementioned rumours relate to her ripping people’s face off…

Any news is good news.

I’d ignore it if it’s not true. Why try to defend or explainanything, people will believe what they want anyway. rumour mills will always turn.

If there is no truth in it don't let it bother you

If they cannot prove their lies.. they are fools. If I call someone a liar I'd make sure I can evidence that.

I have been accused of hurting animals, I would never do that, i have also been accused of "shagging" hubby behind his exes back when they were together which never happened, apparently we bully his ex which she has said we don't.

We are quiet people, we keep ourselves to ourselves and any rumours told to us are ignored.

Hubby said the more they spout the more they trip themselves up, it just makes me so angry.

His ex has told us she knows there is no truth in any of it, we have evidence as well that it is all lies, I just don't know why so called friends would do what she did and make up these stupid lies

Just ignore them and get on with your everyday lives. They'll soon move on to gossiping about something else.

I was going to say ask them for proof of the allegations but as you have evidence to the contrary use it if and when needed.

It’s always good to have facts to back up what you say if you can.

Good luck OP and I hope it goes away quietly

depends what the lies are, but i would be tempted to ignore, but if its hurting your family or buisiness then you may need to do something, if its lybless then the police are a good start, or maybe a lawyer, if its personal, there isnt a great deal you can do really, ignore and let friends know its not true, move on, these people thrive on attention, dont give it to them

Easy tiger(s)! Sounds ominous. Don't allow your emotions to drive. A daft rumour that has no impact can turn into assault that will be a LOT more stress. That could be the intention!!

If they are (were) a friend you could ask them where they heard such a silly rumour. Better defuse than destroy.

Lies always have a source. Find out where it is.

Absolutely.

But if you have to do something, a letter from a solicitor threatening legal action would be much better. Suing somebody costs a fortune, but the threat would probably frighten the liars into shutting up.

Give the neighbours cat a boot and shag the ex, they'll have nothing to talk about then

People will ask your friends and those who know you. It's 3 years tho before it's not widely known but never forgotten in some minds.
