Secret hideaway in the pennines

As it's only going to be me for Christmas dinner, I am not going down the traditional route.

This year I am splurging.

Pan fried scallops with black pudding to start.

Roast venison haunch with a redcurrant reduction and trimmings, to be decided

And a Christmas pud cheesecake.

I’m doing traditional ish.

Camembert starter or Moroccan spiced soup for those that don’t eat cheese.

Turkey and gammon and all the trimmings.

Undecided on desert tbh maybe make a cheesecake. But will have mince pie and Christmas pudding as well as profiterole options too

I'm driving up to my brothers house... No idea what his wife will be cooking for me!

I will cook for myself on boxing day.. Pudding will be White Chocolate, Orange + Pistachio Pudding. There will be roasties, or pan-fried garlic potatoes and there will be parsnip croquettes... Maybe a pistachio-pea puree... Not sure what else yet

Do you at least have pudding? There’s always room for pudding, it doesn’t go to your stomach it goes straight to your heart

For the 9 years except for one I have had pizza, I put turkey on it to make it more festive.

And this year I am not going to break with tradition it's going to be pizza with a big glass of wine.

Going to my brothers for Christmas - that man can cook!!! Turkey (and gammon) with all the trimmings and usually 2 or 3 desserts and you have to have a bit of all of them or he gets the right hump then at some point in the afternoon he will produce a yule log and single cream. I'm going to savour every moment and every mouthful as I'm working next Christmas

We don’t have breakfast generally then start dinner early around 12-1 starter then main. Often don’t have desert until 5/6 rarely eat anything in the evening too sometimes some cold meat around 9 we graze on Christmas Day and take a long time between courses

The same as last year.

Turkey Wellington:

Sage and onion stuffing mixed with sausage meat spread across the turkey joint, a layer of cranberry sauce, lovingly rolled in pastry. Honey roasted veg, boiled veg, pigs in blankets, sprouts in blankets and a port based gravy sauce.

I was looking at pictures of last Christmas and of course I took a pic of dinner... My mouth is watering already!

Black pudding and goats cheese wrapped in filo pastry, served with an apple chutney to start with.

Followed by turkey , roasted pots, parsnips and carrots, red cabbage in cider , cavoalo Nero and pigs in bblankets nd stuffing
