" Cool, Yeah, it is an extremely welcoming country, Well done on topping out on Annapurna? which Annapurna was it? I climbed Ama Dablam, then spent some time setting up a company purchasing back the unused expedition equipment left by the expeditions to ship home and sell. Kat is great always stopped at the KGH. | |||

Where have you climbed in Europe?" I've climbed in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Spain Majorca, and Malta, but mostly in Chamonix...the Walker Spur on the Grandes Jorasses, the North Face of the Tour Ronde, the Gervasuttie and Boccalatti pillars on Mont Blanc Tacul to name a few routes. "Closest I've been to Nepal is Nepalese restaurant run by ex Gurkah's Superb food, great service and ultra friendly people. Strangely though, they're all blokes, and I've never seen any female staff "Yeah, there's a lot more Nepali restaurants around and a lot run by retired British Army gurkha regimental soldiers. Haven't had the pleasure myself, but sounds as if they are a lot better with cooking here than the majority of Nepali eateries in Kathmandu. | |||

"Just as memories are fading and Nepal is getting back to normal after the 12 people killed by avalanche on Manaslu, a plane destined for Lukno on the Everest trek to the mountain crashes killing 19 people. 7 Brits were killed, there must be a feeling of great loss throughout Kathmandu tonight. What are peoples memories of Kathmandu, anyone been? anyone want to go? " I"ve been to Nepal many times in the last thirty five years (Loki) and Sexy has been with me since we got together. There has been talk recently of trekkers such as Debbie Maveau being murdered in Nepal and trekkers such as Aubrey Sacco going missing and some people have got the impression that Nepal is dangerous country for foreigners as a result. The thing is though that statistics make it very clear that it is far safer then America or Australia or even popular tourist destinations such as Thailand. Things have changed since I first went to Nepal and the civil war resulted in some lawlessness in some parts, notably Langtang and the far west, but the overwhelming majority of people in Nepal remain as they were : mellow and friendly. Kathmandu? Forget Thamel, stay in Freak Street. Namaste! | |||
