In my area of field we use that term for GPS tracking. However, I'm also intrigued about this 'new' term.

Calling them out can help. See if they're interested in any kind of relationship/friendship. If they're not, best to avoid them.

There was a thread a few weeks back

https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/1221553

Its essentially people leading others on, in a non committal way, keeping a potential interest engaged.

Honestly, if someone wont commit to a thing, I have no time for them.

I have enough self respect to not let someone mess me about, and at most will give them the level of engagement they give me.

Happens a bit on here. I just get bored in the end and block them once I realise they’re not actually going to meet up, even just for a chat.

Some people , it’s just the world we live in. It can be annoying and frustrating when you don’t spot it early.

Now it all makes sense!

I've been perceptive to this kind of 'behaviour' but wasn't aware there was a term for it. Hence (one of) the reasons I have a section at the bottom of my profile called "My Limits".

surrounded by twinkly lights

Some I walk away from immediately, some It takes me a while to recognise before I walk away, a few can lead me on for a long long time before I realise what they are doing as they ultimately hide behind the distance.

I am getting better at it but slowly

Your on point with what you’ve written. It only takes a few seconds to reply to a message

It’s hard to walk away, when you’re extremely attracted to someone especially.

"Ever heard of that term? How do you deal with it?"

You recognise it for what it is and remain in a state of No Contact. Make your life toxic/narcissist free.

Not explicitly so, but it's still a 'form' of that. I would classify that term as a neologism.
