Fraud: 'I had £18,000 stolen after my drink was spiked'

This is a worrying trend. Shows how tech designed to make life easier (biometric authentication) have unintended consequences and present novel opportunities to the unscrupulous.

This has been going on for years where spiking is used to Rob people.

It happened to a friend of mine about 10 years ago, robbed him and burgled house.

The differences now is it's easier because of contactless cards.

It is the ease with which things can escalate. Rob a house and you take a few possessions. Rob an identity and access all online service inc banking and you can ruin a life.

He was targeted so I am guessing the people who carried out the attack knew he had the banking apps and everything needed to carry out the crime on is phone or person. I wonder if he knew his attackers and if he did was it the tech that let him down?
