I like both. Comics wise though I've always liked the darker DC comics more than than the almost silly at times Marvel ones.

As for cinema, the MCU wins that hands down. DC made an absolute mess of their attempt and apart from the first Wonder Woman and the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League have been pretty bad films on their own rights.

Met actors from both MCU film and TV and DC film and TV. I think DC edges TV wise and MCU edges film wise.

for the comics I'll go DC, for the movies the MCU (even though the Dark Knight trilogy from Christopher Nolan, is regarded in high esteem by me) but yea the DCEU made a mess of their expanded universe.

I probably read more DC comics than Marvel but the continuity in the MCU is impressive. Just need to get the X-Men rights.

DCEU is an utter mess. A couple of gems and loads of weird dross.

They've got them. Disney already bought fox.

Marvel, DC never really grabbed me. I will confess ive not really read comics, just flicked through the odd ones while on the shitter.

I am quite partial to judge dredd, though thats 2000AD

As for superheroes? Iron man and deadpool, the rest just fail to peak my interest

And while i love the joker, i really hate batman

I marvel all the way. Except for the trump of 2000AD. Comics wise.

Marvel all the way. I just never found DC's characters that interesting. Sure, they have the big 3, but other than them I would struggle to name any DC heroes, and I collected a lot of DC comics about 20 years ago. I always preferred Marvel's characters. Stan Lee went on an incredible creative streak in the 60s, and so many of the franchises have stayed popular as the characters are so compelling. There's something for everyone.

And the DCEU is just a disjointed mess tbh. I've enjoyed a couple of the films (Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, The Suicide Squad), but that's it. Meanwhile Marvel tend to knock each movie out of the park.

Marvel has probably done a better job creating a coherent universe but for me DC has the better individual movies.

Superman 2, V for Vendetta, the Dark Knight trilogy, Watchmen, Joker and The Suicide Squad are some of the best comic adaptations out there. No Marvel movie on its own merits (separate from the MCU) comes close.

DC series are good (arrow, flash, and legends especially). Marvel has made s bit of a comeback with good (but short) series recently. Loki was awesome.

Marvel movies are just a lot better.

I'd argue that Shane's post still rings true and that Deadpool is an anomaly in the MCU, to be fair it is entirely apart and not integrated into the rest of the MCU. Because of that it stands by itself as an adaptation.

Taking raw material particularly the dark Knight trilogy and V for Vendetta keep the links back to the dark comics are perhaps some of the best adaptations of written material to celluloid ever seen, with the exception of lord of the rings (fight me)

Marvel all the way.

The X-men were my favourite growing up and still are now.

Marvel have the more interesting villains in my opinion (joker excepted) which makes for far more creative conflicts. Spider-Man has the best rogues gallery of any hero.

As for the DCEU… hahahahahahahaha!

I will concede though that Watchmen is a masterpiece and Frank Miller is a genius

Marvel films, but of the more mainstream publishers, Image produces the better quality stories.

I prefer the marvel films purely for continuity. And adding the old Netflix series that were darker and more adult will be great.

DC series are good, and the films are darker and more adult oriented, but having different actors playing different characters for the films ruins it!

Travelling

I've always favoured marvel comics (but am no way a single camp fan boy). Superheroes are superheroes regardless, but to me with the exception of Batman himself (but even then, the man is the most powerful character because he has a backup plan to take down every member of the justice league, and has) DC has always felt like they are just too powerful in that they are "gods among men"

Where as Marvel is much more grounded in that for a lot of the characters you can relate to them and the themes being put across.

Spiderman is the most relatable character created in the superhero genre.

Marvel is also much more versatile in themes, they have some seriously dark comics and storyline that can rival DC. Yet also have the lighthearted side.

MCU you just can not fault by comparison to DCEU, it's a none contest. Almost everything about it is just superior. Let's face it, the only thing DCEU has going for it is Batman, they just can't pull off the fantasy side of things and make it work well.

As for TV shows, once upon a time I would have said DC is the clear winner, but most of those shows are losing their quality fast, or already have. Now that Marvel Studios are doing the TV stuff, under the guidance of Feige the quality has increased.

I look forward to seeing what each side comes up with and if they can capture something that their potential allows. Bith just as likely to drop the ball too.
