The jab is generally put into the higher muscle tissue in the arm (very close to the shoulder)... it can hurt if a nerve ending is hit ...it happened to me last year, but the pain didn't last very long.

The hubby had his done during the same appointment and didn't feel a thing despite disliking needles.

I'd say its pot luck on the pain bit lol

We had ours done privately for £7 each as we weren't entitled on the NHS.

Or have a high risk job such as nurse etc where picking up flu is a possibility. Many companies now offer flu jabs to their employees to minimise illness

You can also pay and get one from boots and other pharmacies. I paid £5 last year for mine. I work in pharmacy but we aren't entitled to one free. Which is silly as we come into contact with flu regularly then they complain when we catch flu and off work

I have mine every year without fail, I'm getting it mid October I think. The jab is put at the top of the arm and it can ache and feel heavy a day or so after, I'd hardly call it pain though.

The flu jab changes slightly every year and swine flu is incorporated into the injection. I think its always worth getting and you can pay to have it if you can't get it from the GP. Always worth asking at GPs though.

I'm supposed to have the flu jab because I'm 'high' risk at work it's a combined drug now so swine flu too. I'm not allowed it this year as I reacted do bad last year, looks like ile be destined for a dose (of flu) this year .

I would have a word with the nurse and see if you can have it this year. The innoculation changes every year as the virus mutates and changes, so even if you reacted last year, you may not now. You don't want to miss out if you can have it, so its worth checking out just in case

I asked the docs last yr if the swine flu was included inside the flu jab they told me no so ill ask again tomoz x

. I spoke to our units occi health today as I had a booster for another jab, they deffo won't let me have it again this year because no matter what the type of flu jab it is Aparently it contains a egg protein which is what I react to. Don't get it really as I eat eggs no trouble.

Then he was telling you the incorrect information. Since the swine flu pandemic an innoculation was produced and people had that alongside a flu jab as it wasn't contained, it being a new strain of flu. Ever since the flu jab. Now incorporates the swine flu innoculation.

I've had my letter inviting me again as I'm diabetic but I've never bothered and I won't be this year either. I haven't had flu once in the 12 years since I was diagnosed with diabetes, just a couple of mild bouts of the common cold and that's it. I don't like being jabbed routinely just for the sake of it.
