Anyone remember special birthdays when you went out for a special treat...

Prawn cocktail or melon and ham or orange juice (britvic of course)

Followed by steak chips and egg or chicken in a basket..

All washed down with blue nun or if it was really special black tower...?

Way too posh for me. Findus crispy pancakes and potato waffles washed down with Sunny Delight. And a Raspberry Ripple Supermousse for dessert!

Yep! You were *meant* to let them thaw first before eating them. No chance! Much better frozen!

You were? Oh well never mind, guess I enjoyed setting them wrong (like most people I’m guessing!)

We didn't eat out during our childhoods really. It was a sandwich buffet at home with balloons and Kwik Save party hats

My mother used to not eat all day in anticipation of a meal out, which was a rate treat. She used to look forward to the much desired shark's fin soup, which was considered exotic in her time. How much we have now learned about such foods.

Pot Noodle.

On very special occasions got hot water and a fork.

My dad told me it was a Chinese jigsaw, kept me quiet for weeks.

We rarely age out when I was a kid but in my twenties the "special" dessert was black forest gateau. I really disliked it.

I only remember going to a restaurant once when I was a child.

My dad took us to a nice Chinese restaurant and I had ribs in a lovely sauce.

I'll still get a prawn cocktail for starter if it's on the menu.

I remember asking to be taken out to dinner by my Mum and Dad when I was 12. My first time in a proper restaurant. I remember having melon for starter and icecream for dessert. No idea what I had for main. And lemonade to drink, imagining it was a glass of wine. A family friend crocheted me a white shawl to wear over my favourite purple dress.
