Omg, anyone else is just feeling like money is literally being drained out of them soon as it hits the bank account? I’m haemorrhaging ££££

Had quite a few essentials expenses as of lately and today I had renewed my laser hair removal sessh.

I’m feeling like I wanna laugh so I won’t be crying!

Social here, expensive extra bill there, little cheeky visit to the hair dressers…

It makes me wonder…

Whoever said that money doesn’t bring happiness was

a) a liar

b) probably stinking rich

Anyway, how are your finances doing?

My savings have been seriously depleted by tax, mot and insurance then the unexpected expense of a new laptop. Christmas is depleting them further but I have a budget which I'm sticking to. I'll be going to the dentist in the new year so that will probably leave me very low on funds.

Diabolical. Due to a run of unfortunate events im several grand in debt, on a low income and barely able to dig myself out of the hole i find myself.

Money does buy happiness, and i can attest to that given the life ive lived.

At the same time, being in my current position shows just how valuable money is, how little you actually need to be happy, and just how much consumerist shit you really dont need.

I was amazed when i found out that the average person who lives alone and struggles financially spends an average of £200 per month on their food bill

are they insane? I live very comfortably on just a weekly budget of £20, if i make that £30 per week i eat like a king, and im buying food to go with a diet plan to accompany my workout routine

I have just bought a new (2nd hand car) and it is in thr garage being prepared for it's MOT, not needed at Christmas. However finances are stable so we're doing ok

Ours are OK. Maybe a little lower than what they should be right now but we've booked and paid for a few hotels for things happening next year as they were cheaper so far in advance.

I've bought most of the Christmas presents too and only have a few more bits to buy so that's taken care of.

I don't go to the office anymore so I'm saving £££ each month on fuel!

It obviously helps that we have two incomes coming in and because of the kids ages they get free school meals which they enjoy. (when they had pack lunches we spent sooo much money on food).

I only get my hair done once a year. I cut my husbands hair and kids hair. I get my lashes tinted every 2 months or so if I remember. I don't get my nails done. We don't drink much alcohol and I wear the same clothes over and over. Usually a pair of jeans, boots and an oversized fleece

I like to blend in than stand out.

It certainly gives the flexibility to do things that can make you happy!!

Whether it’s a holiday, or a retreat or courses or even buy things to make you feel momentarily better

But more importantly it’s a peace of mind! That’s for sure

My food bill is around £200 . Not counting the eating out (that is really rotten, I had times with £200-250 food bill on eating out alone in a month but I’m limiting it)

I actually did something different this month. I put all my salary into savings and am living off £370 cash I had from selling an old car and some nectar points. When that runs out I have some Egyptian, Zambian, Rwanda, Saudi and UAE currency to exchange. And finally a coin jar I’m taking to MLS next week. I’ve locked all my cards away

If you asked me end of October though I'd of agreed that we were hemorrhaging money.

We went to a wedding in Newcastle and bought loads of drinks! Husband can't help himself offering to pay for everyone's so that was a few hundred pounds gone.

Then we met up with friends the next day and paid for the meal for us all.

We both hate people paying and much prefer to treat others. We know how hard some people have it so if we can not cause them any financial woes it makes us happy

I’ve been doing house renovations the past year.. the money that’s been going out of my account is soul destroying (don’t get me wrong earmarked for that and the results are worth it.. but)

Last week best part of 1k on bloody skirting boards.. I’d much prefer to spend it on slightly more glamorous indulgent stuff.

If you find a rich 90yr old can you check if he’s got a slightly older brother for me

I totally get what you mean tho, I’m in the process of selling one of my properties I inherited from my dad, and a Surveyor is asking £2K to get some documents sorted. And can’t really get around that.

We were sent one that was all set up with a big limit, hubby hates them and so do I so it was cut up, only our boy could have possibly done it but it was in my name so he would never have recieved it.

Thankfully I’m in a really good place right now!!

I’m away so I get extra money coming in and I managed to get rid of my expensive finances before coming away!!

So I’ve hit my target for my Thailand Trip next year and my laser hair removal…now saving for my car and furniture for my house!!

But it is December and whilst my kids think Santa makes and brings them toys I’m spending flat out to make the little assholes (meaning princesses) happy

I agreed. Cards in general, I have an AMEX and fuck me, some months it’s scary how out of control I can get

Hubby got someone out of the shit a few years ago, his now ex wife got a loan out in his name, didn't pay and buggered off with another bloke and left it all with him, the bank took him to court and hubby's paperwork shit them up and they dropped everything, even paid him compensation, the lesson he learned is never trust anyone and always check your credit rating just to see if your spouse is screwing you money wise, hubby never bothers as he isn't worried.

I never have much money left over after I’ve paid my monthly outgoings anyway, but it’s not being helped by my car which seems to be testing my last nerve this last month or two!

Still, my kids have a roof over their head and are warm, which is more than can be said for a lot of others out in the world, so I am thankful for that.

We are ok and get buy.

We save and dont go out much which leaves us some money at the end of the year to buy treat ourselves to something nice if we wanted.

Dont travel to work so save about £600 a year on fuel.

Can feel the energy/ home bills cost going up next year so we make sure we put some money aside for them.

Got the evil tv license due this month so thats another £££ going out.

Not thinking of spending much over xmas as I dont want to start the new year in debt.

I am quite fortunate insofar as apart from utility bills and council tax I have no rent or mortgage to pay, also now only running one car not two.

I do spend around £60 per week on food but that includes a large slice of baking ingredients as I seem to make cakes for all and sundry.

Income wise I receive a State pension, Private pensions Income from a family trust fund and I also sell on Ebay, all of which I pay tax on.

Ditched my American Express card years ago just have the usual visa credit card which I clear every month.

I do not consider myself to be well off but just comfortable.

Save a little here and there, skip that social etc.

i bring happiness through gift of passion, making things. They offer me money, but I know how little they have so I just make it for them and gift it. It brings them joy and didn’t cost them a thing.

However, we cannot have too many of me.

Money does buy happiness, and i can attest to that given the life ive lived.

At the same time, being in my current position shows just how valuable money is, how little you actually need to be happy, and just how much consumerist shit you really dont need.

I was amazed when i found out that the average person who lives alone and struggles financially spends an average of £200 per month on their food bill

are they insane? I live very comfortably on just a weekly budget of £20, if i make that £30 per week i eat like a king, and im buying food to go with a diet plan to accompany my workout routine"

Get out of debt, ASAP, it'll not get better by itself.

Martin Lewis from money saving expert has loads of advice and practical help. As does Radio 4's Moneybox live presenter Paul Lewis.

Between them, you should stop the financial hole digging and start to see daylight.

I’ve been doing house renovations the past year.. the money that’s been going out of my account is soul destroying (don’t get me wrong earmarked for that and the results are worth it.. but)

Last week best part of 1k on bloody skirting boards.. I’d much prefer to spend it on slightly more glamorous indulgent stuff.

If you find a rich 90yr old can you check if he’s got a slightly older brother for me

and have put in the contract that they must go within 30 days tho. Can offer the best 30 days EVER tho

I still worry because my essential expenditures can be a bit out of control so… until I dissolved at least one asset I can’t feel… truly settled.

And still then, I have already things that I need to do with that money.

But I do realise I’ve been lucky to receive a “healthy” inheritance, don’t get me wrong

It all depends on what one describes as 'food'. Anything with nutrients will tend to cost more that 'buy 1 get 3 free crappo white bread rolls'.
