Hospitals. Always avoid em. More people die in them then nearly anywhere else.

I'd say if u like running, check out rivington pike, there's some amazing circular walks there that go over stunning countryside and reservoirs.

Also middlebrook retail park is worth visiting.

There's quite a nice italian place on middlebrook retail park and there's a contemporary oriental restaurant right next to the cinema there too, which is also good.

-The actual town centre part of bolton i don't venture into that often, so couldn't advise.

I remember Jack Doherty on his show when channel 5 fist launched, asking the singer michael bolton, if he's ever travelled to bolton. He said if you're passing through, put your foot down..

Depends which bit of Bolton, there's not many spa hotels so going to have a punt on the Last Drop. Some nice pubs in the area near Last Drop (The Flag, The Volunteer, The Railway - last one is also a music venue, or was...)

Middlebrook is best for food - the Italian is called Luciano's and the Chinese is Abacus. There's also a Wagamama, Bella Italia, Pizza Hut, Mexican type place that I can't remember the name of and the usual drive thru places. Starbucks with the cinema complex - lots of screens and cool seats.

Town centre is probably best avoided but the Market Place has the Light Cinema (smaller than Vue at Middlebrook) and a few restaurants in the Vaults downstairs. There's a stretch of Bradshawgate and Deansgate with pubs/nightclubs, especially the bit around Nelson Square. Also some bars on Churchgate. There's a good alternative music venue/pub further out on the edge of the red light area, called The Alma (if you like metal, alternative stuff). Avoid the red light area like the plague (Shiffnall St).

There's a small museum within the library on Le Mans Crescent. There's a theatre near that (The Octagon), no idea what's on.

Walking/outdoors stuff - loads of areas. If you ARE at the Last Drop, it's right under your nose.

If you like olde worlde houses/castles, check out Turton Tower or Smithills Hall.

There's not a lot of spa hotel choice in Bolton! If you don't fancy a mooch to Middlebrook for sustenance, there's some decent little cafés in Bromley Cross village for brunch and restaurants/gastropubs in Egerton, which isn't far.

I’ve only been to Bolton a few times and this is where I would say rivington reservoir has some lovely walks but it can get quite busy, I went in December 2019 with another fabber and it was packed.

Lucianos at middlebrook does some really good coffee.

The mexican place on middlebrook retail park is chiquitos, which i think is great & a fun eating experience.

Rivington pike has been mentioned a few times. Not sure if you're driving, but you can park at rivington hall barn for free & take your pick of stunning, circular hikes. It's really peaceful round there.

Take decent walking shoes / gloves etc

From the Last Drop, yes. Depends how far through Egerton you want to go, but my bro used to walk to school in Egerton from near Last Drop so defo walkable! Sorry for the late reply but not been online earlier.

Bolton has defo gone downhill but there’s still some good places up near last drop is the posh end don’t go up near brieghtmet you won’t have tyres left lol
