With December almost here and Christmas in its way what I’d the best or most memorable present you ever got over the years?

I remember when I was very young probably about 4 or 5 coming down Christmas morning and there was a big box waiting with my name on and when I opened it, it was a blackboard.

I had no idea that I was getting one but that was the best present I ever had loved that blackboard. I remember the excitement and joy when I opened it up.

How about you?

Console games are way too complex for me now, too many buttons to remember what to press. Take me back to those days, give me a Kempston Joystick with 2 big red buttons and I’m happy!

Horizontal x and they were white with pink-ish details on the wheels.

I used to skate even inside my home as my dad had marble floor in the living room and wood everywhere else

I was HATED. Literally hated by the cleaning lady cos I was ruining the floors

The good times

Did you have the roller blades or roller skates?

Ahhh the Kempston joystick - best employed on Daley Thompson's super test on the Spectrum 128k. It's where every boy employed the "sideways manic wank" motion to get him to run and hurdle. Fantastic!! My Spectrum / Kempston / tape recorder combo may well have been the best Christmas present santa ever bought me!

how the hell they ever survived the pounding they got on any Daley Thompson game is beyond me! I had Daley Thomson’s Decathlon and that was frantic too! Built up a good strong wrist though which came in handy

Worthing

Mum and Dad never had much money when brothers and me were growing up. They used to save all year and really treat us at Christmas. I liked all my presents and still have some. Microscope and Telescope were favourites for the budding young scientist! Still have them.

A winnie the pooh Teddy.

I was in hospital over Christmas - I think for a broken arm and I woke up to that at the end of my bed.

It's a real art ruining Christmas with hospital admissions.

My mum was in over Christmas when she gave birth to me.

Above situation with my arm.

And pneumonia one year.

"I always buy myself the best presents at xmas, and at least that way I am getting exactly what I want "

I used to buy my own present at Christmas and give it to my ex to wrap. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have had a present to open and the kids would have noticed.

It would have been nice to have been given the money to buy it but at least I could take part in the opening.

That’s totally unfair….your ex is bang out of order!

I always make the effort to buy for the ex….think it sets a good example for the kids we have together!!
