Dog treats

I don't own a dog, but there's quite a lot of walkers near where I'm at.

Is it alright if I bought some treats and feed the dogs after getting permission from their owners?

Are there any good brands that people would recommend?

Springer spaniels are nice, if a little lively.

They usually call them ‘breeds’ rather than brands though

Can't go wrong with Bakers or Pedigree for treats but I highly doubt people would let you feed their dogs unless they knew you. I wouldn't let anyone feed mine for his safety.

Unfortunately, folk are probably going to think you're (at best) a bit odd.

Always happy if people ask before offering treats. Biscuit type treats are best, bought from a pet shop

surrounded by twinkly lights

Stick with Bonio type plain biscuits, pedigree and bakers etc can be too rich and give dogs the shits

Are there any ingredients on biscuit treats that I need to be looking out for/avoiding?

I see! Are there any specific ingredients that I should avoid?

If the owners say its OK but please be careful what you buy, some dog treats shouldn't be given to dogs as they are dangerous.

These are the hides you can buy and now they are in festive colours.

As someone who was a pet carer some years ago, i advise to ask for permission before you do, their dogs may be on particular diets or have allergies so you dont want to give them something they shouldnt be having

Especially when you own up to not having a dog yourself.

I would not want you feeding my dog sorry, especially not shit like Bakers or Pedigree chum (all about dog food will tell you everything you need to know about why Bakers/Pedigree chum and Eukanuba are bad)

Nature's menu training treats or a anything with natural ingredients in it and please check with the owners because some dogs have intolerance and allergies, or on strict calorie intake

Thanks all for the input. Appreciate them!

I'll probably just stick to petting the dogs with permission from their owners instead

Feeding dogs is not a requirement when out dogging.

I wish people would research these brands before believing the hype. Bakers is as bad as it gets...Vet companies have a responsibility too to stop promoting the crap brands they are sponsored by. My vet knows how passionate I am about what I feed my dog and admitted to me that yes, BARF diet is best not many vets advocate it because there is no money to be made for them.

My dog is on a BARF diet and as well as being a natural healthy food with no additives or chemicals it is cheaper. Costs about 60p a day to feed a 56kg German Shepherd, I do give kibble, I use Eden or Millies and it is expensive but because it is high grade you feed less. He always has fresh meat daily though

Happy for anyone to pet him...trouble is not many people want to pet mastiffs
