New idea for FAB members Discord Group?

There is a thread on here about updating FAB, it's somewhat mixed, I'm aware this is run by volunteers and a big shout out to them but has anyone here considered a Discord group?? It could be an idea, what do you guys think??? X

Where'd you get that from? Fab is owned by a company, which is in turned own by a single bloke. Accounts are public information. I got our account auto banned for mentioning the company name, so I'd best not do that again

Chap makes a decent little bit of dollar from Fab, and it's by far the best of a pretty grim selection when it comes to sites for swingers.

Discord would be a replacement only for the forums though - nothing else - and the forums are probably the best bit of Fab.

If it ain't broke and all that...

Just been looking into all that (owners). It’s not hard to find if you know where to look. Can see a little why they might want to keep it under their hats, so to speak

It’s quite different to WhatsApp.

It’s got different areas, chat thread, private messaging, live rooms etc

Discord is full of scams and stuff, its not very secure in that regard. I have had 3 or 4 scam messages in the last couple of monthes. People spread Malware aswell

Its a bit like skype mixed with a few other bits and peices. Can be used in a browser or with an application like Teams. You create your own server which can have text or voice channels in. You can text chat stream/share screen or camera in the same way as teams. But the text cchat is persistant a bit like a group facebook page.

Its more aimed for gamers really for voice chat and expanded. As Skype was unsecure, vent and teamspeak require paying for or creating servers to run them

If someone is really good at administering Discord it would work. My fiance deals with a couple discords, some with age related areas.

But for this kind of community its only good for groups who socialise and play together often.

There is already a fab Discord that someone did make though. Its just not an official fab server

Its a bit quiet mostly

It'd make more sense to migrate the existing forum to software that supports apps e.g. vbulletin forum and Tapatalk app.

Don’t think it ever happened as fab is fab and it’s maybe dated but lots use it so like they say it’s not broke lol

*shrugs* It's been really useful for me over the past couple years. Met loads of every day friends prior to download fest, a good group on an adhd server from around the world. People saying it's for children is like saying gaming is only for children whilst also saying "foot ball" and "mobile games" don't count

It's basically like whatsapp but a bit more organised and there's controls for moderation. Lots of added functionality for chat rooms and discussions etc etc.

Created my own for keeping track of events locally, hobbies and interests, get togethers with friends even work and team meetings + training and useful info.

Much better than one single big whatsapp group stream of messages. I think they attempted the same with "community groups in whatsapp" but it's a bit naff and simply just a subfolder

No I use it from esports to swinging to military stuff for sports very useful. Think I’m in 14 swinging run 6
