My ex mother in law has this, it's horrible when it flares up and I feel so bad for her.

No but I know someone who does and it appears to be agony. Sorry you’re suffering.

I had months of back and forth to the Dr's and dentist

Dr's say dentist have to investigate and do the diagnosis- dentists say they can't prescribe anything for the pain (not that anything I've had thus far helps). Dr's say it's "notoriously difficult" to treat.

Then managed a few weeks pain free (relatively) but today - oh boy is it back - feels like someone is trying to rip my lower left teeth out whilst at the same time some kind soul is repeatedly punching the left side of my face and a third is punching my jaw from the bottom. I'm super super fed up with it, nowt gives me any relief in any way AT ALL

Thank you for listening guys xxxx

I think my ex mother in law has meds for it but she also has botox injections which she pays privately for with the consultant. These originally lasted a year but the timings are lowering now. Her face would be so bruised for a week, bless her.

She has also had an operation to remove a nerve which they accessed via the roof of her mouth but this was not successful and the pain restarted.

Seeing her suffer with this is awful, my heart goes out to those who live with it.

There are drugs they can treat it with but they're reluctant to because of what they're normally prescribed for, gabapentin is one and the other is an anti epilepsy drug

I survive with sumatriptan and rx strength cocodamol but it barely touches it when I have a bad attack

One of the drugs that have been used for a long time is carbamazepine also known as tegretol. This was mainly used to treat epilepsy.

I suffer with this occasionally but mainly due to a sebaceous cyst that sat on my TG nerve on the left side of my face.

Terrible agony when flared up but under control for the last few years.

I sympathise with anyone that suffers this.

I did suffer from this, they prescribed Gabapentin…the worse drug in the world in my opinion. The side effects were horrendous. So I would rather live with the pain than have the side effects. It has eased a lot over the years.
