I haven't heard anything good about the Edinburgh one this year.

Overpriced & over crowded.

I do love those yorkie pudding wraps you sometimes get at them though.

The Manchester one was disappointing. The good stalls weren't there. Seemed flat.

I've only ever been to foreign Christmas markets abroad.

Never been to any in the UK for good reason.

Excited is a stretch but I enjoyed them when the kids were young. I don't do them now.

I know what you mean. When I heard the main hub was gonna be on Picadilly Gardens, I thought it was gonna have stalls that were originally on Albert Square but nope. What is there is just a food court with a few gift stalls on the outside.

The rest of the Christmas Market in other parts of Manchester is still good though.

Yeah Picadilly Winter gardens just didn't have the same vibe as the food area near the town hall with the massive santa in previous years.

Birmingham one was awesome yesterday. Had a lot of fun and actually felt christmassy for the first time this year

Went to one yesterday (only a small one not one of the big city centre ones)

It was nice that it was all Christmassy and crisp and cold, but as usual overpriced stuff I’m not interested in buying. So good for the experience, shite for actually buying anything!

Yeah. Speaking of the massive Santa, they've placed the massive Santa on a giant present on St Peter's Square which is no where near the Christmas Market.

I've always said it should have been on Picadilly Gardens as a centrepieces like the Zippy Santa was on Albert Square.

I avoid York city centre at this time of year, at least during retail hours. It looks pretty but the crowds are ridiculous!

Same here. The last time I saw the Zippy Santa was outside the Kelloggs cereal factory.

Most stuff there is tat to be honest. There's a huge lean into the whole crafty / local side of things at the minute, but by and large it's not stuff we're fussed about.

Went to the one at Chatsworth a couple of weeks ago. It was fine, but can't say as it felt particularly exciting or Christmas-y, plus we had the dog with us and the amount of people there made it a bit of a hassle.

We're off to Budapest next month though, so we'll see what Christmas markets abroad are like

We went to Munich a few years ago and really liked the atmosphere there. I keep hoping to do the Cologne markets and combine it with some football but it's a bit too risky this year and too much hassle.

East London

Yes, but not the crap ones we have in the UK.

A lovely one I went to in Bruges was beautiful, had lots of Christmas goods, the food was traditional, with gluhwein and hot chocolate with the spirit of your choice that wasn't ridiculously overpriced, and the City was beautiful with a lot to do.

No tacky, plastic Christmas inflatables except one Father Christmas next to the ice rink.

I bought a lovely pair of fleece lined mittens, some baubles for my family, some Christmas chocolates from the Chocolate shops and quite a few hot chocolate and Amarettos.

The small Christmas Market here in Bolton used to be good years ago. Now they're just plain rubbish.

This is why I go to the Manchester Christmas Market instead.

I still like them. I had a lovely day at the Manchester one last week. Fewer stalls than normal and it didn't quite have the same feel to it, but it was still a great day out.

If anyone is interested I have turned my garden shed into a German alpine lodge complete with a bar and hot dog roller. I have Christmas lights with most of the bulbs working and a couple of reindeer on the decking. I also purchased a job lot of glass snowballs but unfortunately when tipped upside some of the liquid leaks out.

I thought I would get into the spirit of Christmas?
