"Doughnuts......... okay... my favourite favourite thing from american in the world has finally made it up to the north east!!! (other than a chick-fil-a chicken sandwich and that is never going to happen) Anyway I was trying to describe to my friends up here what it was like... and that best description I came up with was the food version of "crack cocaine" in the way that you just need it and the buzz you get just sends you on the ultimate high.... anyway... so.... question time... what is your version of food "heaven"... or addiction... you just know need!! " Someone bought a box of these things into the site I was working on a couple of weeks ago. Scrummy doesn't even come close to describing them. After my fourth one I had to tell the selfish bastard not to bring any in again as I could feel my waistline expanding as I ate them.

"Ive never ever had one.. wouldn't know where to buy one from" Some WH Smiths have them in a cabinet. You can't move in London without bumping into a Krispy Kreme - they even offer to deliver them to offices.

Getting a KK(k) habit is not to be encouraged. I'm not even sure I have ever seen a raspberry one.

"You only have to look at the calorific content of these things to understand why the US has such a major problem with obesity. All their products are in the 250-400 calories per unit range." thats just being a spoil sport...... obviously not advocating having 24 in one sitting... but whatever happened to just treating yourself??

"Ive never ever had one.. wouldn't know where to buy one from" Some Tesco stores have them too. I love them...like the normal glazed ones, but my favourite has to be the Boston Creme (or the Custard Filled Chocolate Iced as it's called over here!), it's lush. Have had a very indulgent treat this evening though after shopping...Banana and Nutella Milkshake. Bliss!

" Fried Milk ..... Eh! Tell me more? " The concept of fried milk may sound unusual to many, but it is actually a dish served in many areas of the world, including China, India, Spain and Italy. Some versions are sweet and others are savory, but most of them consist of breaded custard fried in oil. The result is a crisp outer coating with a smooth, velvety inside Step 1 Whisk together ¾ cup of cornstarch and ½ cup of white sugar in a large mixing bowl. Pour in three egg yolks and one whole egg, whisking until everything is smooth. Step 2 Add 3 cups of whole milk to a saucepan over medium heat and let it warm until bubbles start to form around the edges. Step 3 Remove the milk from the heat and whisk it into the egg mixture gradually, 1 cup at a time. Continue to whisk until it is about the same thickness as mayonnaise. Step 4 Scrape the custard out of the bowl with a rubber spatula, into an oiled, 8-by-11-inch baking dish. Spread it around the dish until it's even and smooth on the top. Step 5 Place the custard into the fridge for at least three hours, up to overnight so it sets up firmly. Cut the custard into brownie-sized squares or rectangles and set them on a plate carefully. Step 6 Heat 1 or 2 inches of vegetable oil to 360 degrees Fahrenheit. Step 7 Beat three eggs in a shallow dish and place 2 cups of breadcrumbs in a second dish. Step 8 Coat a custard square with beaten egg, then place it in the breadcrumbs until it is completely coated and dry. Step 9 Add the custard square to the oil and fry it for one to two minutes, until it is golden on both sides. Step !0 Drain on kitchen paper... sprinkle with sugar or salt....enjoy!
