You don't have to be a ballistics expert to know that the kills shot came from infront of the motorcade in the direction it was heading, his head fell back and the entrance wound to the front of the head was small and this blew a 3rd of the back off behind him. Jackie is seen on the Zapruda film climbing onto the boot to pick pieces of his head up in her words...

Driving down Elm St away from Oswald, though a round from his rifle was found in him it was an impossibility the shot that killed was from him.

The most plausible theory I've ever read was upon hearing Oswald's gunfire a CIA agent jumped out of the car in panic and ran from infront towards the presidential Lincoln continental holding a semi auto rifle, he experienced a negligent discharge and a one in a million chance it hit the president in the head.

This would explain why his body didn't have the propper autopsy prior to moving him interstate which was law in Texas.

The secrecy that followed was to cover up this ccidental misfire.... apparently.
