Yeah, and why buy a cooker when you can build a fire in the garden/bed when you could sleep on the sofa/car when you can get the bus, etc etc etc.

Not helpful really, is it?

Try the big charity shops, Emmaus, BHF and the like. They should last several months.

Otherwise YOutube the tv's symptoms and see if is easy to diagnose, then phone round for a few quotes. Hit and miss, I inow, but it's worth a shot.

A smart TV is one that can connect to YT/APV/NETFLIX etc.

I don't need telly but I like watching it. Loads of people are quite isolated and lonely, especially recently and tv is company.

If you can’t afford to get a new one in the Black Friday deals, have a look at sellers sites but be careful about what you’re buying.

If you go to a cash converter style shop at least they give you a guarantee and can usually spread the cost a bit.

Failing that, maybe someone that you know can let you borrow one for a bit?

If you've already got Netflix on the laptop, you've pretty much got everything else online too...

....simply create accounts with the various broadcasters - BBC, ITV, C4, C5, UKTVPlay - and you can watch live programming on all of them...

Not exactly it’s a tv variant off it yes you can install normal android apps but they don’t deplay right they display in the mobile land scape origintsih witch means they side ways

To get it to display right you have to install the tv variant off the app or root it witch means soildering wires on to the back and dumping the nand flash

Haven't read all the replies so sorry if someone's already suggested this, but it's worth just trying a local electronics repair shop. I had a TV fixed about 8 years back and it worked up until I gave it away. It probably still works because he done work to it that wasn't necessary but he knew would extend the life of it.

Only cost me £30 and that included him picking it up and dropping it back to me.
