Just curious, whatre your thoughts on the wink button on fab?

Do you find it useful?

Would you think it'd be more beneficial to not be there? (Less spam, less useless button pressing)

The idea of the wink is great in my opinion, I use it as a way to let someone know I'm interested in them, but without sending a message which may lead to rejection, I would find a wink back would acknowledge that they are interested back, but I simply haven't seen the wink button ever used this way (well for me anyway)

In over 3 years, the wink button has me in more trouble than anything else, whether that be getting blocked for a "lazy attempt"of being noticed, but I want to know your thoughts?

Should it be removed?

I think some people like it, but maybe there could be the option to disable it so people don't send them out into the ether to people who don't use or check them.

I use winks in the way you described.... but that's where the system falls down because I don't then message.

I think I'm fabbing wrong.

But I don't think that it needs to go. If people don't like them,they should ignore them. Is a tool to be used or not.

I think it's more useful for women and couples. They probably get inundated with more winks than messages so don't pay attention to them for perceived lack of effort. On the other hand, when a couple or woman winks me, it indicates interest and therefore shows they're ok with me messaging them.

And also, the "Wink you would fuck" threads would become redundant

I like a wink. It shows me someone is interested and I only have to wink back or message them if I like what I see, knowing I’m going to get a positive reaction.

I do send them out too occasionally as I don’t always have the confidence to send a message.

I’ve always said for years and years that, used properly (or at least how I think proper use would be) winks *could* be an awesome feature. Kind of like a ‘swipe right’ would be.

Give a wink to flag interest, if you get one back the interest is mutual, and THEN you go into your proper introduction message (and of course all the normal rules would then apply, a crass or disappointing message would see short thrift).

Cuts out that unnecessarily long process of trying to construct a unique bespoke opening message for everyone you like the look of, that (for us men anyway) will invariably be deleted or ignored, and stops inboxes getting full with unwanted messages from people that you’d never want to get with.

However it’s very rare people use winks like that and it’s too late to recalibrate their use so I guess people will perpetually whinge about them. So maybe they should go?

I haven't read all replies but here's my bit .......

I never look to see who has winked BUT sometimes I discover that loads of people have been winking at me .....

Then I delete them. I don't know why I delete them cos it doesn't affect my bandwidth or anything but by the time i'm deleting them some of them are quite old.

So .... leave the button where it is. People use it.

I don't but some do. It doesn't seem to be causing any harm.

Fairly ambivelant. If somebody is interested then message them. However, having read the profile (wow who does that?) and seen I'm not who they're looking for sending a wink gives the chance to perhaps reconsider / move outwith their preferences.

The wink button is useful as a single fella. I don’t ever message first but I do have on my profile that if people would like to chat to wink me.

Yesterday I had 5 winks, so with very little effort on both sides, I now know 5 people are willing to engage in a conversation with me, which has saved us all time.

I think single fellas winking is pretty pointless to be honest, if couples/single woman are getting a myriad of messages that they mostly ignore, winks will be low down on their priority. The best thing a single guy can do is not hide his “I looked at you” no point in being a sneaky squirrel as a fella

I’ve started lots of conversations from just a wink, I would not have otherwise engaged or been aware of them, and probably vice versa if it wasn’t for such a non assuming innocent button.

I can’t be the only one who doesn’t decipher this place to death can I? It’s just a wink

Thats exactly how i use the wink function.

I think it’s a good feature. If it’s of not interest to you it’s easy enough to ignore isn’t it.

Plus you can only receive winks from those that could message you.
