Wild boar are terrorising Barcelona residents and the singer Shakira was attacked by two wild boar in a park. This is a problem across Europe. They should legalise hunting these beasts before there is a death ..

Wild boar kill people often in France, the hunters that hunt them are also killing people. Cyclists and only a few weeks ago a guy driving his car on a motorway was shot although he did survive. Boar also cause huge amounts of damage to crops. Whilst I'm a great believer in live and let live they really are classed as a pest here. They really do wreak havoc and destruction.

There is no means of population control for them in most countries.

They have big litters and are large and aggressive.

Deer are controlled so the population is strong and stable and it should be the same for boar.

We had a wild boar male that we crossed with our sows. He was a fantastic lad.

Like deer they can be eaten too so its not just killing for nothing. Culling is sensible.

Exactly this, since we eradicated apex predators . I was lambasted on a fb group for suggesting it would be nice to see a return of wolves. Seems the wolves agreed and have been sighted.

We had some in the forest near my childhood house.. in fairness they can be scary beasts and sometimes they did roam way too close. Watch out when they have young ones.. they are so protective ! I had a couple of frightening encounters. Not sure what's the just and least cruel solution.

Read again, Did I say that the pheasant was poached? It could have come from a game dealer. There's one in Swansea market.

There and other countries in Europe all of which hunt them as a form of herd control. Those who think the world can be run on a natural non kill basis are kidding themselves. Our population levels verses arable land and crop capacity just do not work. Thousands of years of human intervention means the two are incompatible now. Even if they were I doubt many here would give up their comforts likes and life expectancies. To revert to the form of subsidence to accomidate their return to the wild. No coffee reduced range of fresh foods fruit veg shortages plus much much more.

I'm not exactly getting bored with this now, but the leg of lamb that I've had brazing in the oven on 100 degrees since eight o'clock this morning is about to take priority.

Here's another bit of useless information for you. Human beings are supposed to taste like pork, that's why the cannibals in darkest Africa actually called humans, "Long Pig," so if you can't afford wild boar for dinner, you can always roast one of neighbours that you don't particularly like, and there probably wouldn't be a lot to draw between them for flavour.
