Ive got to that age where Im getting hot flushes and thinning hair and I think I need HRT, doctor agrees but has only offered me one that will put on approx 21lbs or so.

No cant do that as have struggled to lose 9 stone to be thin so cant go back to weight gain.

So please ladies can anyone suggest a HRT med that doesnt mean I put on so much weight.

Thanks

no matter

cant imagine why if you keep to a sensible diet and exercise you should put on weight at all.

Im guessing if doc is only offering you one type he isnt keen on u going on it. Try another doctor. .. I was on kliovance..as the latest one . stopped taking it in june diagnosed with breast cancer in july..

LOL I have been on various sorts on and off since I was early 40's cant say anyone of the meds made me put on weight. giving up smoking bad food habits and no exercise did.

By the way did he check your thyroid with a blood test. The thinning hair is definitely a symptom as is dry itchy skin having an underactive thyroid causes weight gain and tiredness.

Im a size 10 now (was size 24) and do have a sensible diet and I do exercise and yes thyroid has been checked.

The GP told me that the HRT she normally gives would put on approx 1.5 stone.

have you thought of trying some natural remedies ? im oneof the lucky ones who sailed thru the menopause but i wouldnt just take HRT at the first signs ...... you might find your symptoms are short lived and mild ?

I personally wouldnt ever ever have hrt, i would rather go through whatever the menapause entails. some ladies dont realise just how dangerous some can be

Yeah the breast cancer risk is higher but HRT protects against heart attacks and bone loss so its all about managing the risk.

Thanks for saying what you are on girls Ill mention these to my GP
