I'm staying in Sheffield this coming Thursday and was hoping to experience the town. Any tips on the bars? Not really into loud clubs, something along the lines of a lively and friendly atmosphere.

Roebuck pub is nice for drink and food also the head of steam large modern pub on norfolk st

Leopold Square has some decent-ish bars.

The Riverside at Kelham is nice, but it's out of the town centre. There are a few nice pubs around Kelham to be honest, and it's more chilled than the centre.

I used to live in Sheffield ages ago (well, decade back). At some point, lived around London Road, and I had the distinct impression that it was going from rough to acceptable and up and coming. Did the gentrification go back?

West Street was quite chavy

Hello OP I’d suggest “The Wick at Both Ends” on West Street.

West street is a strip of bars and clubs in the centre with roads off it that have some great bars too.

What kind of music are you into?

Sounds good, music wise anything really, RnB, chill out, lofi, but it's more about the vibe....

Not really looking a loud heavy club night as it's a school night!!

Would say Kelham island also, it’s just out of the town centre but really cool.

The steelyard has some really nice places. Check out decks. X

I'd suggest a taxi...it's probably only about a mile or so away but not a straightforward route
