Once you realise you are there to see if you like them, just as much as they are seeing if they like you, a lot of that awkwardness goes away

Stop putting people you don’t even know on Pedestals

Simple as talk to them and make sure you listen. Key is to ask a fair few easy questions about them, be interested, and go from there.

Address it head on, tell them your shitting your pants.. they mostly are too. Breaks the ice and starts the conversation

I imagine them sat on the loo taking a great big shit. Normalises everybody that. Nerves gone, although you do end up with a feeling of disgust over them

Meeting new people is fun, and I reckon if you view it like that you shouldn’t be nervous.

On a mooch

I just see it as a catch up with a friend I already know, so nerves go out the window

Always arrange a social first, then it's just like meeting someone for a drink and a chat, to see if you get on.

Never think that you have to impress anyone, just be relaxed, open and honest.

Why do you find it awkward? There may be nerves but we've never been in the situation where meeting somebody has been awkward.
