Being turned down for looking very youthful happens for me quite a bit.

So question is, is having youthful looks a major turn off for you?

Like I look a lot younger and people say am lucky as I'll age well but I want to look my age haha. Guess I better start heavy smoking and stress more.

I think typically youth is preferred in females and maturity is preferred in men. It’s not a hard rule but a general thing.

I looked much younger than I was throughout my youth and early adulthood, it was the bane of my life. I still do, but these days it’s much more in my favour

Wait it out, it will be worth it when you’re pushing 50

I’ve got a baby face at 42. I sometimes grow a beard to change the look.

I wouldn’t mind youthful looks but I am mindful of age, so let that guide me. I wouldn’t go for too young or too old.

It sucks when your 19/20 & you look like your about 12...but at 46 like i am now, it can work to your advantage.

You can't change the way you look and youthful looks won't be everyone's thing but...they will appeal to many. Don't waste a second of your youth wishing you looked or were older, it's genuinely pointless.

This will be to your advantage 10 years from now. In my age group there are lots of men who look way older than their age. Of course it's always possible that they are just lying

You are 27 not exactly in your 40's + so you will look young. But not seen your face to comment if you look your age, older, or younger.

I look a good ten years younger. So as a 27 year old you can see why it may be a little hard to be taken seriously haha especially in the working world

I can see how that might be a barrier to being taken seriously. I don't think there's an awful lot you can do though.

Mr KC looks significantly younger than 35 but he gets taken perfectly seriously. It's only when he goes to visit universities and he's offered student prices in the canteen that he notices differential treatment

Never had a problem really and I still get ID’d when buying alcohol at the supermarket

I’ve been told they love my young seemingly innocent look x

Are you sure that's the reason, or is it just the reason your're given?

This is very true - looking younger than your years definitely means that people don't take you seriously and try to take advantage of what they perceive to be your lack of knowledge and experience. It is possible to turn being underestimated to your advantage of course but there are times when you need people to hear what you say rather than allow their prejudices to dictate how valuable it is to them.

I guess you'll have to send grainy photos and behave really maturely?

But yeah. I've had coffee dates with a few baby faces and there's no spark whatsoever.

Dude don't waste your time wishing you were something you're not!

Embrace that shit. You will be the one laughing when you're older and look your current age

Catch 22 for me. If I shave to the skin then people tell me I look young as hell. Whereas with beard/stubble some have said I look over 40

Bastards

I'll have to wear them comically obvious fake moustaches with the Groucho Marx glasses to make myself older.

I was always told I look younger. Did put me off messaging younger women who wanted older men as I still looked younger.

However I'm getting greys in my beard now so with probably look my age, waah waah.

I'm 33 and everyone thinks I look like I'm mid 20s.

Many on here have told me because I look so young, it's a no go.

And those that I have met, have all said I look better in person.

Think I need tips on how to take better pics

For every person who rejects you there will be two who would pick you for it. Just might not always happen in that consecutive order. Embrace it and for God's sake don't start smoking!
