Those 2021 New Years Resolutions …

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

So, did you make any?

Did you keep to them? If not how long before you broke them?

Or is it just a load of bobbins and you don’t need a change in a calendar to drive you to improve?

Mine : weight loss goal - achieved so far. Mini lapse in the last month but recoverable!

Run more - achieved. Weekly Parkruns added too!

Have more sex - achieved

Grow old gracefully - FAIL!

How about you?

Its been a weird few years I think we've all been allowed not to have to make or stick to resolutions

Ahh is that code for “I broke them by 10am on January 1st?”

.

My only resolution was to start being more proactive in doing things that make me happy. At the end of last year I wasn't in the happiest of places but this year? I've actually done quite well. I've started saying yes to more things. And no to things that don't make me happy. Experimenting and exploring and remaining true to my boundaries as the year has gone on.

So big tick for my only resolution.

ha maybe. Sometimes we need a prompt though and perhaps a change of calendar year is as good a prompt as any!

I completely agree, I'm already planning on next year in terms of work, fitness etc. Don't need resolutions, be positive all year

I used to try and stop biting my nails every year but of recent times New Years Eve/Day bring back horrible memories for me and therefore I don't really get into the whole fad. Each to their own I guess

November and December are usually quite times of the year for me, so it makes it easier. Went back swimming a month ago and started Yoga yesterday.

I don't do new year resolutions. If there's anything I want to do - it becomes a resolution there and then with achievable timeframe. Doesn't matter what time of the year it is.

Sorry to hear that my friend, I don’t actually like NYE at all, no bad experiences though just for some reason can’t be in a celebratory mood.

Honestly can’t remember what I chose, if I even did. But I don’t feel like a had a good year tbh. So maybe I’ll be more thoughtful for 2022

Dont make them as work on the principle of why wait until the start of a year. If your going to.make changes to your life etc then start immediately don't wait for some date in the future.

agreed! But maybe the break over the festive season and time off a hectic work life gives you a natural chance to actually pause for thought and evaluate things when other times are so busy you can’t. And obviously that diet can’t start *immediately* as there’s still the Bounty’s and coffee cremes left at the bottom of the sweet tin to get through, and those last few mince pies …

It’s a little bit grinchy, but I don’t see the point in New Year resolutions. If there’s something about you, or your life, that you want to change. Do it now, there’s no need to wait until Jan 1st.

My resolution started in June 2020, I’m now a LOT lighter and smaller than I was.

good work! Glad it’s gone so well!

It’s when I tip those scales on Dec 31st after all the Turkey, mince pies, chocolate and excess of Christmas that I vow to lose weight (again!) over the next few months!
