What’s the one thing you regret most?

Mine is not doing Uni even though I could. Not because my career would be any different or better, but because people who went invariably have wider and better friendship circles into adulthood

That lass when I was in the sixth form, that looking back basically asked me out about 3 separate times, but because I was so socially awkward and shy at the time I didn’t realise it and didn’t pick up on it until years later when the penny finally dropped. And she was gorgeous too. What a numpty!

Such a moment when the penny finally drops years later isn’t it? I remember a huge feeling of regret despite it being years later!

No regrets except last week when Lidl were clearing out some discontinued wines at reduced prices. I only bought one bottle of each to try, and they were bloody gorgeous. By the time I got back they'd sold out. Wish I'd bought the lot.

I really try hard not to have regrets but it doesn't work as I have far too many.

To not staying on at school and doing A levels, I regret starting full time work at 16 yr old and not going to uni. I regret settling down in a serious relationship at 16. I regret loosing my virginity to the wrong man. I regret not finding a career I love.

Think I'll stop there. I could go on and on.

Except not speaking up and getting help as a teenager, resulting in me ditching school at 15 and not realising my 8 year dream of being an architect. I could have done it, should have done it, but I let the piece of crock win.

Still, I most likely wouldn't be here, doing what I'm doing and meeting those I'm meeting if life had been different.

I regret listening to the one person who made a hugely negative impact in my life. Even though he's not part of my life physically, he's still hidden away in the craters of my mental health.

Throwing away hundreds and hundreds of drawings I did during my teens and early twenties because I was embroiled in a ridiculous court case a few years ago.

So many memories attached to them. I spent most of my teens either drawing or doing schoolwork so it was a massive deal throwing them out but I was in a state of paranoia and thought it was the best thing to do at the time. I’ll never ever get them back and it hurts a lot when I think about that.

My regrets come and go depending on what I feel is important at that moment. Can't think of anything I'd change that wouldn't have altered the course of history and left me without the things I love the most.

Hope you have reached out to family/friends or your gp for help pal!

Mental health services avaliable today are excellent and extremely accommodating.

I'm sure you have had a tough ride but talking it through a professional can be really beneficial. You've taken the hardest and first step just by mentioning it on here, keep the momentum going
