What are your thoughts on these new fangled silicone baking trays/oven gloves?

I never quite trust that I'm not going to burn my fingers.

I use mine often the cake ones need to be put in a normal cake tin or you loose your cake mixture.

Baking sheets are awsome.

Also very useful to help you get a grip when opening difficult jars.

Somewhere In The Ether…

How sturdy are they?

I mean, will my Yorkshire puddings roll unceremoniously out and onto the floor as the tray flops over like an eager to escape boob released from a bra?

I bought them originally for making macarons but I fell in love with them. I've got cake pans, baking trays, oven liner sheets, muffin cases and I know not what.

Oddly I don't like the oven gloves, I don't like the feel of them.

Great for cakes, pies etc as easy to get the food out without it breaking up and the oven gloves are very heat resistant even when wet. The only thing I have found is they can taint the food with the taste of washing up liquid if they are not rinsed properly …. I have one silicone coated spoon that is basically unusable as I cannot get rid of the washing up liquid taste off it.

I'm imagining a metal tray will still be the best to contain your wayward yorkies

Yes I’ve got a pair, I was debating whether to go for the classic, two joined together material ones but took the plunge and got the silicone ones, I’m pleased I did.

Another vote for baking sheets. Total must have! The oil drip trays for the oven are aces as well.

I have a pair of the mitts but never used them as I don’t trust myself not to end up with blistered hands.
