Sedation

I'm aware there are a few healthcare professionals in these here forums so just hoping someone can put my mind at rest...

I'm having a procedure in a couple of weeks which I've opted to be sedated for. My nominated person is going to be my mum. What is the likelihood I'm going to say something I regret while out of it(i.e things I don't want her knowing, namely private sex things)??

That's a hard one to answer . Personally I didn't say anything unusual when sedated and I remember it all. Some people are really funny though. I guess it's like alcohol, everyone reacts differently.

So it depends on what sort of sedation they use. If it’s a short procedure they’re likely to use a short acting anaesthetic- you won’t let any secrets drop!!! It’s usually the general anaesthetics ( for the bigger ops) that are prone to people waking up asking you to marry them or saying they love you… but not divulging secrets!!

Good luck xx

If you do I hope she videos it I love watching videos of people, usually Americans, high as a kite and saying the most hilarious things

If you do say anything you don't want to just play it off as jibberish. To be honest when people do say funny stuff it's usually rediculous. I once had a girl cry about loving bread .

Thank you!

It's only a short one, so hopefully I'm in the clear!

Good luck for the procedure. And, if you should say 'anything' I'd just blame it on the meds

I did think of just playing it off but how do you play off something like "omg I'm such a hoe, you have noooo idea"

I was sedated. It was lush he he felt like I’d been in the room five mins but it was about 40 mins. I think I slept mostly and watched the tv screen that was there. Not a wear of saying anything was just super chilled and happy. The day after was a blur I do wonder if I had a reaction mind lol it was just nice to get away from seriousness for a while and rest lol

I've had several surgical appointments in recent years involving Sedation.

For one, it was a low level of sedative and I was aware of being 'awake' throughout. In the others, there was deeper sedation levels and I was told I was just groggy and said nothing.

I think if you can cry over bread you can be convinced that having sex outside of marriage makes ypu a massive ho bag

See I hated it. The room was spinning and I didn't like being less aware of what they were doing.

Same. I declined sedation for all my endoscopies and my colonoscopy and all the nerve root block injections I've had. I couldn't even stomach the gas and air during labour! One puff and it messed with my head, so it was firmly off the menu
