"She doesn't flush the loo after a wee and it's gross. Fair enough in your own house when you're on your own but not in a shared bathroom! Haha my dad flushes half way through a stand up wee to mask the noise and I’m left with a diluted wee bowl because he’s fired off too early (Vomit)" That sounds grim on all fronts tbh.

"aw bless ya! as somebody who is a terrible people pleaser I am the worst at saying "it's up to you" when it comes to choosing anything. My mothers annoying thing was always wanting to go to Bingo, when I hated it. I expect my kids will say my annoying thing is insisting on chatting with them during the morning sometimes when they are up late the night before playing on line games... they sleep late when they can so if I want them I have to wake them up!" Oh! That's another one! She's a morning person and I'm not. As soon as I have opened my eyes it's 20 bloody questions

"Yer allowed to rant... We lost my Dad in jan... actually, we didnae lose him.. we know he just died.... Mum was about as much use as a snowball in hell..everything fell on me as the child who didn't move to New Zealand She's still in denial to this day... I'm still dealing with the stuff and her on top of it... I adore her, but I get it xxx" Awww I'm sorry to hear about your dad x My mum was the same after her mum and dad died. She just didn't want to deal with anything and got hung up on the smallest details. I guess it's part of the grieving process but it's hard when it means you have to organise everything and can't grieve yourself x

"Evie, plan the next two days in advance and send her an itinerary that includes quiet time in the morning. Let's see how 'I'm easy' she is. " Haha i'll try. Even when we have plans we have to re plan the plans 15 times!

Next holiday is out cruise that we should be on now lol I will make sure I plug 4 pairs of headphones so I can just drown her out when she annoys me lol

"I rant all the time about my mum. She's got worse as she's got older. I won't go into details but it's so bad that I dread her calling me. It's been like this for years and she's just so difficult. I'm so glad for Fab as I couldn't put this up on Facebook " This is the very reason for this thread lol sometimes we just need a safe space x

"We're back folks! How can I tell her it makes Mr want to vomit when she calls me baby or baby girl?! Something about it bring my mum calling me those things gives me the creeps. She always used to call me dolly. I've no idea why it changed to baby girl I don't mind dolly. " Oh dear I don't think you can. Maybe just scream "STOP CALLING ME THAT" I thought of something today when I was driving back from my parents. If I arrange for their supermarket delivery at between 11 and 12 say, they will both start saying that its obviously not going to turn up ten minutes before it's actually due

"Oh Evie. Stay strong I went to a dementia group yesterday morning and then I took my mum shopping afterwards.... there was very little difference between the 2 I'm glad you take the time to be her daughter/friend, many can't hack it x " Oh lord! I feel your pain. Yesterday we told my mum that dad was going out today. She must have asked when he was going four times in the five minutes after we told her. It takes immense patience to just answer normally and to not say "remember".

"My girls and I moved back with my mam about a year ago and it's mainly great. I get childcare, she gets company and the kids are close to their friends and at an age where they can go out to play. However... I do need to bite my tongue a bit sometimes. I'm a wanderer, I'll pop to the shop then remember I need to do xy and z so before I know it I've been out all day. My mother is frantic at this point even though I'm nearly 40. She's got worse with age I think, I felt more independent when I lived here as a teenager. She's also convinced one of those people off the internet is going to murder me " I constantly have to remind my mum that I am 41 years old and can decide what I want to do day to day. I kind of want one of those tacky hair braids while on holiday and she seriously tried to tell me I couldn't..... So now I'm gonna get 4! I think it would look cool as I have quite funky hair

My dad tried to tell me off yesterday, I reminded him that I'm 65, have brought up two children and paid a mortgage.

"Rant away mum’s are sooo annoying but it doesn’t stop us loving them. Mines 87 and still wants to be in control of everything but she physically can’t. I know it’s fear of getting old and not being capable but sometimes I wish she’d just accept the help rather than it being a constant battle. She’s always thinks she’s right, constantly corrects me even when she’s wrong to the point I don’t want to engage in conversation with her. We were going to buy a place together, so we could have equal space but she flatly refused anything we looked at. So I moved in with her. I had to sell/give away all my furniture/house possessions and get a storage unit for the few items I really wanted to keep because she wouldn’t make space for anything of mine. I now spend most of my time in my bedroom which is the only place I have anything of mine. I feel like I’ve reverted back to that sulky teenager full of resentment. I used to do a lot of cooking. Spend hours preparing delicious home made food. She’d eat it once and then when I’d ask if she’d like it again say no. It’s soul destroying. Now we just get prepared food from M&S or Waitrose, at least I know she’ll eat that. I could go on and on about everything that winds me up about her, but she’s my mum and I do love her." xx
