Have you ever been catfished or felt like you were the catfish

What's the story?

Yes I was catfished! And I’m very angry that I allowed myself to be catfished, it took me a long time to get over it.

Caught someone trying it on here, report with proof, profile deleted. No doubt a new one is already on here with me blocked, but I did my part.

Nope, I'm not great at communicating via text and find it's hard for me to get invested that much in it. Great for avoiding catfish, although probably not ideal for the genuine ones.

Not on here, on another site, and I kinda knew, but took the bait and sent pics of my cock... Urgh. Wasted a whole Sunday speaking to a man who was pretending to be a woman.

I've been sort of catfished... Went on a date with girl from a dating app but she was clearly older than she was in her photos, like at least 10+ years older! I didn't say anything on the date, just incase she had some insecurity issues or something.

Anyways I wasn't really feeling a vibe (obviously) so we said our goodbyes at the end of the night... Then later that evening she text me out of the blue and said "I probably won't arrange another date with you because you looked nothing like your photos"... like really!?... What the actual fuck are you on about!?

You should do the spoon test next time... ask them to send a photo of them holding a piece of cutlery of your choice

Years ago on a Facebook app I chatted to someone and arranged to meet him.

When I got to his place his much older, much less muscular friend was there instead.

I asked why he was there and he said the younger man had to go to work, but he would happily have a blow job lol (which he didn't get).

I later found out that they used the same PC and the older man had been using his friend's account and arranging to meet people too.

I did meet the younger man a few times who said his friend was a dick and he had now changed his password on his Facebook account and didn't leave it logged on when he went out.

I had two people who used photos that were at least 25 years out of date and had forgotten which year they were born.

I was catfished majorly by a dude pretending to be some hot fit ex marine. Turned out he was a 50 year old balding man with a wife and kids! I'm a bit more wary now! Mrs x

Happened on here. Reported him and profile gone but he's back with a new profile. No doubt more unsuspecting women will get catfished by him.

I’ll rememeber this! I mean I just assumed they were genuine as we swapped WhatsApp and this person was verified and all x (from somewhere else)

This!

I did doubt my judgement for a while after. They would only get away with it if they never met anybody but when you look at someone's neck, hands etc. Some things cannot be hidden.

I had a woman friend and we messaged all the time and got on really well. One day she said I should chat to her male friend too.

I made the mistake of telling her that I'd known she was really 'her man friend' all along and we lost touch. I wish I hadn't said anything and met him (her).

Yep been cat fished a few times. Mostly catch on before much effort has gone in but have had an awkward couple of socials that could have been avoided had they sent honest photos.

While I sit here in the car waiting to do school pick up I wonder if I could be classed as a catfish sometimes

Kind of caught a catfish tricking others. I met a guy off here who had pictures that you couldn't really see what he looked like. When we met we got on, he seemed nice, etc. I met him a few more times but then I caught him uploading pictures of six packs to his profile which he certainly didn't have. I called him out on it and he deleted it and denied it ever happened. Very odd. Thinking back, I'm pretty sure one of his photos was from porn when I first saw his profile but as it was a poor quality image only showing the back of a man with a glimpse of a woman in the background, I didn't really twig.

Fortunately i've not experienced it myself.

I was told a story by one couple who arranged to meet a fairy young, attractive guy. When they got to the bar they agreed to meet, they were approached by a guy in his 60s. He admitted he'd been using his son's photos!

There's a catfish on this site that I've reported with proof already and I still see there photos on the hot page.

I'm surprised they are still going as once they start talking its obvious as fuck.

That’s similar to what happened to me, I was shocked when I saw him and asked if he was the same block, he then took his phone out and showed me the pics that were on his profile… there WAS some resemblance but now when I think back I wonder if the picture was just a better looking brother he nicked the pic from….. by the time I realised what game he was playing he’d already left Fab!

I know!! The guy I met had a scar on his chest and the guy from the pic didn’t.

What was sad was the fact that the bloke wasn’t actually a bad looking bloke (muscular and all. So I’m sure he would find other women no problem). Just not my type.. but I was just so let down that he tricked me like that.

I’ve never been catfished in person, as I’ll always do my due diligence. Well as much as you can through this site.

If im not 100% certain the person im talking to is that person, then I’ll just refuse to meet all together.

The amount of catfishing on this site (men setting up couples accounts, women’s accounts)

Not on this site, but on another site I met someone, and as things progressed, a few pieces of a jigsaw began to fit together that she is someone whose identity is legally protected. Enough alarm bells began to ring to send me running.

Catfished by a teacher from school

When I left school at the age of 16 I had someone add me on MSN messenger. The photos sent were of a girl my age and we swapped nudes and dirty messages. I planned a meet and she didn’t show up, I got home and she messaged again saying sorry and that something had come up. We messaged a little bit more and school was brought up, she said she knew a boy from my school and said he liked this teacher, then she asked me my thoughts on him,Then she kept asking about other teachers but it always led back to him. The the account disappeared. A few days later she was back with a new user name but we picked things up where we left off and arranged another meet. To my shock the teacher was there with a bottle of rum and said he had if I wanted to go back to his. I ran home and deleted msn after that

Not sure if this counts as being a “catfish” as can’t keep up with the lingo you young’uns use but...

There’s been a few times with couples profiles. Defo genuine (once) with verifications etc. Have a bit of chat. Swap pics. So far so good.

Then, before you can arrange a phone chat, strangely the female decides she is going to stop swinging but lo-and-behold she doesn’t mind her husband/BF carrying on!

When you ask if she is happy with that. She is of course. However, when you ask to speak to her to check everything goes silent.

Grrrrr

Not a total catfish but had a couple that were quite a bit different from their pics.

Also one guy on here was using pics from what I can only assume was from about 20 years ago. Fortunately didn't get as far as meeting before I found out

Back when I was on a dating site I quickly realised that when I was contacted by a woman half my age and with the looks of a lingerie model, they would most likely be a catfish scam. So being the clever sod I am I never responded to them messages, however, I was contacted by an age appropriate and nice looking lady, after a few days of swapping messages and texts I started to notice odd replies to some of my questions, so I started to suspect foul play, I went along with it allowing this woman?? To believe I was hooked and sure enough it wasn't long before I was told how her ex had left her in a dire financial situation and as she had never felt so strongly about anyone before, she felt comfortable to ask me if I would loan her 5k... blocked and reported, since then I've seen and heard about how rife it is and both men and women sadly being taken for thousands
