Just want to post a message of support to all the healthcare staff, Liverpool residents and patients who are really shook up by this. Plus of course a massive shout out to the absolute hero taxi driver who prevented this from being far, far worse.

Absolutely horrific.

Doesn’t bare thinking about what would’ve happened if he got near the hospital.

Hoping the driver recovers soon x

Not just the hospital, from what I’ve read his initial target was the remembrance parade, then the town centre, then he settled on the hospital while in the taxi

Looks like he just wanted to hit anything with a lot of people

Taxi driver is a hero

Apparently the original target was the cathedral but because of traffic and running late the women's became the second choice. Vile actions. Well done to that brave taxi driver his actions saved many. Hope be heals quickly and is honoured by the city

Just goes to show how low some people in life can be doing stuff like this is beyond wrong and off all the places at a hospital, it’s sad to see there was a fatality and one injury...

Still awaiting details on description off the offenders and why they carried out the attack? Usual suspects and ideologies do come to mind but until it’s released or leaked we have no idea why it happened all I know is 3 arrests by counter terror police took place..

I am massively relieved there was no more casualties there and also seeing the target was more off a surprise as they don’t often go after hospitals but I guess it falls under a place where many members off the public attend to (I’ve done some work before in the past at hospitals)

The initial target was the remembrance parade. Then the city centre when he realised he couldn’t get there, then settled on the hospital along the way

Probably some Middle Eastern extremist group. Thank god for the taxi driver

High chance or possibility it could be or something linked to that or some cell operating, question is at this point why though?

There is no more on going armed forces occupation or campaign in Iraq, Afghanistan..not so much off air strikes going off in Syria or Libya etc...

Could it be a revenge plot or something to stir up conflict again? I guess it will never truly die down all that can be done is the relevant authorities I.e. intelligence services, police and MoD or security sectors carry on reducing and nipping them in the bud before they act..

I’m pretty sure a lot of those extremist groups just want death to the west. In any and all forms, they want to see the west fall and their extremist version of their faith/beliefs rein.

I see, thank you for informing me about this it makes more sense now usually targeted attacks go for places like that with large congregations in numbers...

Guess we will have to wait for official confirmation as to what the groups objective and ideology is though at now we can take a wild guess..

My second son was born in that Hospital and I lived in Kenny (Kensington) for quite a few years. That’s where they have arrested some more suspects.

One thing about Scousers they never forget, be it an insult or act of bravery. David Perry is the name of the taxi driver, he’ll never have to buy himself a pint in the city again.

Question is if later down it’s revealed that the intelligence services had any information/red flags prior on the suspects before the attack took place?

And if so did they have enough evidence detain/ interrogate or imprison them prior?

That taxi driver was extremely brave and quick thinking. I hope he gets the support he needs, he's lost his livelihood, he's injured physically and the emotional toll will only become clear as time goes on. He's not going to walk away from this unaffected.

It will definitely be a shock to the system for those that were there or in Liverpool.

For everyone else it is a reminder, that although things have been quiet these last couple of years, the threat hasn’t gone away (unlikely ever will) so remain vigilant.

The number of flags intelligence services have on people would scare the living daylights out of most of the public. The scale is huge and frankly there just isn't enough manpower to keep them all under surveillance. Genuinely would terrify the general public if they had any idea.

That question is already there. If they haven’t identified the passenger yet, how have they made three arrests linked to it.

They stop far more than the public is aware of.

The public will never be aware of how many are stopped and how much intelligence gathering happens.

Simply put, can't trust the public with that knowledge, people wouldn't leave their house in fear if it was shared.

My daughter was born there, and my wife treated there, I went to school just around the corner from it, the time of the bomb going off and the location of were it happened something doesn't add up the people arrested are held under terrorism because they can be held for 14 days without charge yes if he was a terrorist he deserves what happened to him, but at St George's hall stood 40,000 people, a parade and service personnel, terrorists are horrible people but they aren't stupid and usually do things for maximum impact and publicity

Rumour is the bomber wanted to go to the catherdral but was held up in traffic then decided to go to the hospital. The driver saw the lights and wires under his clothes and locked the passenger in the cab just before it blew up. David Perry was still inside the cab when it blew up.

It was timed to go off at 11am.

David Perry is a hero.

I am aware off this I was simply wondering if they had much information on the suspects prior hand, obviously people get through the cracks there is simply not enough resources and man power to catch them all and even if there was no system is perfect there will always be flaws in which will be exploited and eventually lead to what happened in Liverpool..

Plenty off times you read and come across arrests from CT police who foil plots and that is just what is reported in the news the numbers must be double or more depending on how many are caught out by police or security services

They do foil and reduce more incidents and possible attacks then we can fathom but every now and then an event like this takes place and leaves it’s devastating effect.

It’s the best way to be honest. Way to much surmising goes on on social media with these sort of incidents. In time the facts will be released, what they can without compromising any possible trial or indeed ways they gather information or watch people.

Unfortunately whatever system we have/put in place will never be 100% full proof and the odd incident will still occur.

Upon further reading and looking up findings in the news I came across an update from sky news that a 4th suspect has now been arrested and that the more then likely intended target was the remembrance Sunday event at the cathedral..

It makes me wonder now as a precaution if they will have the same kind off large physical barrier defence systems for future Remembrance Day events which they use similar at Christmas markets to deter/prevent vehicle attacks?

Time will only tell what the official investigation and reporting will disclose or what they wish to release at this moment off time and in pending years until an outcome is determined in a court of law...

Here’s to hoping the damage at the hospital was minimal and that those effected get the support and care they need/require

As always there is a lot of speculation.

The news conference held by the police an hour or so ago, said the cab had been ordered to go to the womens hospital. The police also said they are pursuing a possible line of inquiry that there was a link to the remembrance day service at the cathedral down the road.

Videos and pictures from cctv suggest the car was moving when there was an explosion.

The cab driver has been discharged from hospital.

Identity of dead man is known but not released. A 4th person has been arrested.

It was a terrorist act.

Anything else is speculation at this stage
