Given that we all now have such wonderful newfangled inventions like calendars and personal timepieces isn't it time we put a stop to the relentless, monotonous clanging of church bells every Sunday morning?

Yes. The noise pollution is genuinely offensive. They're always out of time and off beat.

The call to prayer from a mosque can be rather soothing though.

I just feel that the church of Satan needs a similar gimmick.

P.s when I was at university I was awoken every Sunday morning at 9am by Sally Army singing…..

I used to live somewhere that had a cattle market held weekly since the mid 14th century. Some new houses were built nearby into which people from various cities moved. They very soon write to the local council and press complaining about the noise and the smell. We were all astonished!

Here in our village the bells of the church toll at seven for the start of the working day and at 12 for lunch and at seven in the event for the end of the working day which is an old thing from the farming days and we like it.

Top tip.....dont move near to a church if you dont like church bells.

Its a bit like moving near to a farm and complaining about cockrells cock a doodling

Our teacher told us about the meaning of the bells...happy days.

People who buy a house next to a school and complain about the noise of children playing outside! Absolutely pisses me off!

This post was made as people would have been going into Church on Remembrance Sunday, so perhaps not the best day to be complaining?

Also Church bells rung continuously on a Sunday are not for time keeping, but to call people into the service. Some Church bells do also chime the hour etc but then they do that every hour....

Oh yeah it chimes the hours and quarters too. It's never bothered me growing up as I did with a grandfather clock

Love church bells, when I lived close to a mosque I loved the call to prayer, when I lived on the route of a cubs and brownies church parade I used to love to hear the kids playing hymns as they passed.

I don't have a faith, but I enjoy the fact that others find comfort in a religious routine.
