Hi all, I have been thinking about putting myself on a dating site or app but I’m not really sure what ones are any good, I’ve read a few reviews of ones online, some good some not so good.

Is any able to recommend any decent ones? I don’t mind paying to join, just don’t wanna join one where you get a load of fake profiles and fools on them.

Any information would be much appreciated

I’m fairly recently single and back on it again. It’s changed a bit and has a way to photo verify yourself now. Two of the last three people I’ve met have had PhD’s, whitch either says something about dating in Trondheim or that everyone’s using it.

It's good that you can verify now but unfortunately doesn't guarantee good communication and yes I think lots of different people use it now but it seems mostly for insta followers

Yer, if they don’t have a location and say message me on insta it’s just about followers. Equally, got a match with a 30k+ insta followers and she’s just on there to date. Everyone needs some loving

I get most success on bumble. Because the women have to message 1st they're not inundated with loads of unsolicited one eyed monsters so I find they're easier to chat to and get a date. They usually put a decent amount of info about themselves there too, and if they message you they're interested, not just matching for an ego boost. I'm still single though, so what the hell do I know

I met one of my partners on OKCupid. I like how it matches you based on your answers to questions and you can rate how important the question is to you as well as choosing how you would prefer your ideal match to answer.

Tinder is the most popular with the most users, thats probably the best place to start.

People often shit on it, saying it’s bad, no one talks, you can’t get dates etc. But just like fabs, you get out of it what you put in. Fabs is just 100x harder because it’s open messaging style.

As others have said, online dating is a minefield and can be soul destroying unless you toughen up to the fact that you are beholden to peoples' whims online and can be ghosted at anytime. Don't invest any emotion in anyone until you actually get a face to face meet.

Tried various ones, most seem to be geared to extracting as much cash out of you as possible or aimed at teenagers. Fab will do along with the occasional random accidental meet, though tbh work and social anxiety thanks to COVID limits that - celibacy for me then

I would say you don’t need to pay for any of them as I tried Match this year and paid a subscription fee but I wasn’t any more successful than I am on the others and most of the people were the same on the free sites so I wouldn’t waste money on dating sites.

I keep trying in the hope that one day…..

Never had any problem with PoF.

I can search only for my ethnic tastes of the right age range and within a few miles of where I live.

One has to bear in mind that it is not a hook up site per se. But many use it as such. People are usually looking for the opposite sex with sex in mind. If they just wanted company, they could often do a lot worse than sticking with their own sex.

Anyway, almost all the dates I have had on there, over about six years. have ended up on the nest fairly quickly, some being what a golfer would refer to as 'a hole in one'.

Wish I could say the same for Fab.

That’s true but it would be better if they were honest in what they are looking for (women too!) I was chatting to a guy recently who kept asking me to go to his house for a drink but I said I wanted dates which he would agree with then not actually commit to one to the extent the other morning he sent me his cock pic saying he would pump me all night immediate block

Why not say what he is looking for

My profile is really honest and yes I'm only looking for fun through it but I've had a few relationships when I stated that was what I was looking for.

It's not hard to say if you want commitment or not and it's not right to lie and lead people on

Had dates from both Tinder and Bumble the latter my favourite as the women have to message you first.

Ironically the woman I’m dating currently is a blind date set up by a friend, so that makes a change.

It’s not dissimilar to being on here, create a good profile with decent (and honest) pictures and swipe

If this current woman and I start to get serious, then it’ll be nice to delete the apps though.

This! Some apps even reduce your chances once you sign up for paid subscription.

I tried this experiment with OkCupid twice. Had a free account and got over 30 likes in a week. Of course, I need to pay money to see them all. Bought a subscription and found that all except two of them are from different countries. The two from the UK weren't my type. And even worse, once I paid money, I didn't get a single like for an entire month.

Guess what happened as soon as the subscription ended? 20 likes in two days. I understand that these apps want to make money. But OKC took it to a whole different level of unethical business.
